Janessa slowly meandered into the Sira Desert, wanting to find a Pokemon to battle, and maybe even to catch. She had finally gotten fed up with the first two routes, Sakura Forest and Crystal Lake Path, and had decided to venture farther out and start exploring the Sira Desert. Getting bored easily was one of her faults, but it had led her to try something new, so perhaps it wasn't such a bad thing, after all.
But boy oh boy, was it hot out here! The summer sun was glaring down viciously from high in the naked blue sky. Speaking of the sky, where was Ganbaatar? Janessa sheilded her eyes and turned her gaze upwards, looking for her Skarmory. She found him easily enough- he was the giant metal bird that was reflecting the sun's rays in every direction. Very easy to spot.
Ganbaatar noticed that his trainer was watching him, and so he decided to go back down to earth to join her. He gracefully turned and spiralled slowly downwards, before finally landing on the ground just about a yard ahead of where Janessa was standing. Janessa smiled at her Pokemon and jogged to catch up with him. Despite the intense heat, she was enjoying herself.

Wild Pokemon Appeared! Level 9, Male. Attacks: Tackle, Focus Energy, Sand-attack, Arm Thrust. Makuhita’s were usually very determined creatures. The sand made the perfect place to train by attacking the ground without it hurting at all. This Makuhita had been hitting the floor with quick arm thrusts trying his best to strengthen his moves and become a stronger pokemon. However, a bright light was shining right into his face pissing him off.
”Makuhita~” he roared trying to find the source of the problem. The fighting pokemon saw the cause of it, he walked over to the trainer and the Skarmory and began to yell at them but their was no way they could understand.
He took a stance and quickly used a Sand-Attack as he aimed it both at the steel bird pokemon as well as the trainer. Besides, it was her fault for bringing a steel pokemon to the desert.

Janessa nearly jumped as a wild Pokemon suddenly roared- she was almost past the habit of flinching and wincing at every surprising noise, but all of this took some getting used to! She looked about for whatever had let loose that angry-sounding roar, and it didn't take her very long at all to locate it. After all, Makuhita were kind of big and bulky and... big... and this one definitely wasn't trying to hide. In fact, it was walking right towards them. And, much to Janessa's surprise, it looked kind of angry. Well, more than kind of angry, it looked extremely ticked off. Janessa raised her eyebrows in confusion, wondering what they had done to enrage this wild Makuhita. Whatever they had done, this Makuhita was definitely looking like it was out for revenge.
"Gan, be-" Janessa was about to warn Ganbaatar to be cautious and to watch the wild Makuhita carefully, but her warning came just a few seconds too late. The angry Makuhita had already begun to attack. Both Janessa and Ganbaatar flinched away from the sand attack that came flying towards them. Ganbaatar's accuracy was lowered, as was to be expected, and he turned and glared at the Makuhita. It seemed that anger and ticked-off-ness was contagious, because Ganbaatar was feeling a bit of it now. Caught it like one catches a cold.
"Eck! Blck! Pfffft! Pffffffffff Brlehhhhh!" Janessa made lots of strange, grossed-out noises and clawed and swatted at her tongue. She hadn't gotten any sand in her eyes, thankfully, but she had gotten a decent-sized mouthful of it. She spit and spat the blew raspberries as the frantically tried to rid her mouth of the gritty sand. Then she had a lighbulb moment. You could almost see the lightbulb appear above her head- her eyes lit up and everything. She had a water bottle! She grabbed that water bottle and sucked water into her mouth, swished it around a bit, and then spit it out. She repeated this a couple of times until she had finally gotten most of the sand out of her mouth and between her teeth and under her tongue. She sighed in relief, and then pouted at the Makuhita that had caused this situation.
"Ganbaatar! Fly towards that jerk and use your own sand attack on him! Then peck the heck out of him and loop back this way, like a boomerang." Janessa commanded firmly, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring slightly at the Makuhita. 'Well, at least this is a good excuse to battle. I suppose that it's nice every once in a while to meet an aggressive Pokemon.' She thought with her regular optimistic attitude that she took everywhere with her.
Ganbaatar did as his trainer had requested, flapping his large steely wings and flying towards the wild Makuhita. As he flew his powerful wings kicked up the sands of the deserts and flung them towards his enemy. Then, as he reached the Makuhita, he thrust his beak down towards the big yellow blob of a Pokemon and attempted to land a good hard Peck attack right on his head.
'Oh, and flying type attacks are extra effective against this type of Pokemon!' Janessa suddenly realized. She grinned as she realized this fact. Then she watched as Ganbaatar tilted his body and began soaring back towards Janessa, giving the Makuhita a wide berth as he arced around. Janessa had a good feeling about this battle- hopefully she and Gan wouldn't get overconfident and totally blow it.

The Makuhita wasn’t one to be bullied by anyone, he was a strong fighting pokemon and this would go the way he wanted it to. He curiously looked at the Skarmory as he flew over to him, the sand was coming but the fighting pokemon was expecting it. He clenched his eyes shut and covered his face with his large hands. The initial spray of dust had finished before he was attacked by the Peck attack. ”MAKU.” he roared in agony. The super-effective attack took a good chunk of health away from the fighting pokemon.
It was now his time to bring the pain, the fighting pokemon charged up by using a focus energy this meant that his attack would hit pretty hard. He rushed over to the Skarmory with his fists ready to attack, aiming a nice powerful arm thrust straight toward the metal bird.

Janessa made an unhappy face when she saw the wild Makuhita start using his focus energy attack. 'Uh-oh, that's not a good sign.' She thought, but there wasn't much she could do. Ganbaatar was moving too fast to change course safely, even if he would be able to hear her warning over the sound of the wind whistling past him. She watched, helpless, as the Makuhita charged up and then let loose on her Skarmory with an arm thrust attack as he was flying past. The arm thrust clipped Gan right on the wing, and it sent him into a little downward spiral. He tumbled to the ground, though he somehow managed to stay on his feet instead of totally biffing it and face-planting on the sandy ground.
"Okay, Gan, keep it up. Use your peck attack again." Janessa said with a nod to emphasize her words. Gan took to the air yet again, circling his opponent for a moment before swooping down toward the Makuhita and aiming another Peck at him.
'Okay, so if Gan can keep landing peck attacks on the Makuhita, this battle shouldn't take too long. Piece of cake, mostly. But do I wanna catch this guy? He seems to have a bit of a temper, and I don't know if I want a Pokemon like that... Plus, Makuhita don't really appeal to me... although he does seem to be pretty powerful. But... no, I don't think that I'll catch this guy. I'll just let him stay out here... beating up the local wildlife...' Janessa thought as she watched her Ganbaatar execute the attack that she had just commanded him to perform.
"Keep you eyes on him! Don't let him catch you by surprise, like last time!" Janessa shouted to Ganbaatar. Luckily for them, Ganbaatar was able to hear his trainer's words, so as he circled low around his opponent he stared at the Makuhita.

Wild fighting types were known to have tempers, and this pokemon fit straight into the stereotype. He would attempt to destroy the Skarmory to the best of his ability, although flying pokemon were pretty resistant against fighting moves and alas that’s the only sort of the moves this would pokemon had. He took a deep breath and with his left hand grabbed a handful of sand. The Makuhita waited for the Skarmory to be right in front of him before he threw the sand in the air trying to blind the steel bird.
He felt the peck attack again and immediately was at about fifty percent health. He cringed as his right hand covered his head; it was throbbing in pain thanks to the super-effective flying moves. This wasn’t over yet though, the fighting pokemon waited to see if the Skarmory was blinded or if he could still see.

There was no way for Ganbaatar to avoid the sand attack that the Makuhita had just thrown his way. After his successful peck attack, Ganbaatar could do nothing but hover in one place, about five or six feet away from the ground. He blinked rapidly and his eyes watered, slowly washing the sand and grit from his eyes. He shook his head and scowled, angry.
Janessa bit her lip. With Gan blinded by the sand in his eyes, there wasn't much dodging or attack he could do for a minute or two. He was almost completely helpless, a wide open, obvious opportunity that the wild Makuhita was probably counting on. She sighed, and then shook her head to rid herself of the unnecessary worry. There really wasn't a lot to worry about. She had the type advantage, and trained Pokemon were generally better battlers than wild Pokemon, anyways, because of the unique experiences they could have while under the care of their trainer.
"Try going up just a little bit, if you can!" Janessa called out to her Skarmory. Gan tried to do as his trainer asked of him, flapping his wings harder and going upwards a couple of inches at a time. It was slow progress, but it might help him to avoid the attack, or maybe at least take less damage, if they were lucky enough. Janessa smiled slightly and watched anxiously for what the Makuhita's next move would be.

Yes. The Makuhita was very excited that he finally got the advantage that he needed, it was a lucky break and he would take full advantage of it. The fighting pokemon used a focus energy to build up the strength he needed to finish off the battle. He leapt into the air and tried to use an Arm Thrust attack but it just didn’t work out at all.
As he leapt into the air the Makuhita got hit in the face by one of the Skarmory’s wings. He fell on the floor, defeated. This was not a good sign, his advantage had now been his downfall. He fell on the floor almost instantly, if Janessa wanted to capture it. Now would be the time.

Janessa sighed and smiled when she realized that the battle had been one. Ganbaatar finally got all of the sand out of his eyes, and then looked around for his opponent. When he spotted the Makuhita, fainted on the ground below him, he flew back down and landed by Janessa. He looked vey proud of himself.
"You did a great job, Ganbaatar. I'm proud of you." Janessa told Gan, stroking his neck once and then grabbing his pokeball from off of his belt. "Now its time for a good rest." She added, returning the Skarmory to his pokeball.
Janessa studied the Makuhita for a moment. Did she want him? At first she had thought that she didn't want him, but now she was reconsidering... Gosh, it was a hard decision. Well, might as well catch him, right? And then trade him if she didn't end up wanting him, because surely someone else would want him even if she didn't.
Gently, she tossed a pokeball at the wild Makuhita, and hoped that he didn't suddenly burst back into life and break her pokeball.

The pokeball shook in the sand, large and ferocious trying his best to break out. Luckily for Janessa, it finally stopped shaking. Janessa caught the Makuhita!

Janessa smiled happily when the pokeball stopped moving. Even if she wasn't one hundred percent sure that she wanted the Makuhita, it was still an awesome feeling, knowing that you had just captured a Pokemon to add to your team and your family. She confidently strode forward and scooped up the Pokeball. She brought it close to her lips and whispered to it.
"I'll call you Nero. You should like that name, it means vigorous and strong." Janessa told the capture Makuhita, wondering if it could actually hear her. Then she lowered the pokeball and clipped it to her belt. That was three Pokemon, now. She was definitely on her way.
Janessa looked around. Despite the heat and despite the sunburn that she was sure was developing right now, she didn't want to leave. She wanted to explore more, and she wanted to train her Pokemon more. So stayed she did, continuing to roam around the edge of the desert. She didn't particularly want to get lost, so she kept the nearest town in sight on the horizon, and hoped that it wasn't a mirage.

Wild Pokemon Appeared!
Gender: Female Level:10 Attacks: Splash, Pound, Foresight, Defense Curl, Endure.
"Bunnies, Bunnies. I'm a bunny. I'm a bunny that goes Hop Hop Hop.~" the young Buneary was having the time of her life hopping her way down the desert path unknowing really of where she was going. The thing is, she often explored all over the desert world and when the sun just touched the earth, she would go running back home. Something in here always let her find home, a weird sort of bond she guessed.
She hopped, minding her own business before noticing the trainer. She cringed slightly but really paid no attention to the boy, she continued to hop around him singing her song.

Janessa blinked in surprise as she heard what sounded like a Pokemon singing.... She looked around for the source with a slightly scowl of confusion, before she finally noticed the Buneary that was hopping towards her. She grabbed Ganbaatar's pokeball and held it up, trying to decide whether or not this Pokemon was aggressive like the previous one had been. She was expecting another aggravated attack because of her previous experience, so she decided to release Ganbaatar just in case. However, the bunny didn't look vicious... looks could be decieving, though! Better to be safe than sorry, right? She didn't want to be randomly beaten up by a rabbit. That would be slightly humiliating.
Ganbaatar appeared in the typical beam of red glowing light. He blinked and looked around- he had been expecting a longer rest... but he wasn't going to complain, he liked being out and about. He spotted the Buneary and looked questioningly back at his trainer. This was why he had been brought out? For a hopping, singing bunny? Oh, it was very threatening, indeed. He snorted slightly in amusement as he watched the Buneary.
Then Janessa realized that she was slightly nauseous... was she allergic to fur? No... well, hopefully not. You don't get nauseous when you're allergic to things, do you? You just sneeze and get watery eyes and a runny nose, right? Well, whatever was making her this way, she had to get back to town. She didn't want to be sick out here in the middle of the desert. That wouldn't be pretty, not in the slightest. "Gan... we gotta get back into Corel City and find a place to sleep. I... I don't feel so good." She mumbled unhappily, watching the bunny Pokemon as it hopped around, oblivious to her sickness. 'Oh, I better not be allergic to fur. That would suck... how can I be a good Pokemon trainer when I'm allergic to almost all of the Pokemon? Urgh...' She thought with a soft sigh.
Ganbaatar looked over at his sickly trainer. He examined her paling skin. It did seemed to be tinted slightly green... they definitely had to get back, and fast. He would have to carry her on his back and then fly her to Corel City. Hopefully he could make it without collapsing. Truth be told, that battle with the Makuhita had taken a bit out of him. But, the city wasn't too far away. He could see it clearly on the horizon. He should be able to make it.
Gan walked over to his trainer, who was swaying back and forth slightly. Janessa gratefully used her Skarmory's shoulder to balance herself. 'This can't be allergies... I've been around my Pyro without this reaction. It must have been something I ate. Blergh. This stinks, big time. No more Chinese food for me.' Janessa thought, a bit grouchy. Moving slowly so as not to upset her stomach further, she crawled onto Ganbaatar's back and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Okay, Gan." She muttered in a voice just above a whisper.
Gan moved as gently as he could possibly manage as he stretched his wings and then took off, flying quickly towards Corel City. It was an unfortunately ubrupt end to their little desert adventure.
