Janessa wandered back through Sakura Forest, travelling in the opposite direction that she had the first time she has traversed this route. Once again, she had Ganbaatar out of his pokeball, although he had chosen to fly above the forest's canopy, out of sight, but not out of hearing range. If Janessa whistled for him, he would come. They were developing a very strong bond already- which wasn't surprising, since it was just the two of them travelling together for the most part.
Janessa was wandering back and forth between the first couple of cities and the first couple of routes, because she needed training and she needed more Pokemon before she could challenge the first gym, which she was really looking forward to. She had looked up the gym leader and his Pokemon, and so she had a rough idea of how strong her Pokemon needed to be. However, she didn't really know how prepared she, as a Pokemon trainer, needed to be before she challenged the gym. But that was one of the reasons why she was so excited!
It was a pretty day out, although the forest's canopy blocked some of the sun's warmth so it was just a bit chilly. Janessa wished that she had brought a jacket with her when she left home, but unfortunately she hadn't, so she would just have to deal with the slight chill. She folded her arms and shivered slightly as she continued meandering down the forest path.

Jai was walking in his usual dark outfit, he was watching Houndour now named Hellfire who was walking along infront of him towards the city, Jai gave an abrupt sigh as he saw a huge steel/bird Pokemon soar up above him.
Jai gave a wide smile "Skarmory here?" Jai shouted, however he soon realised it had an owned as a small distance away apeared a girl walking along the dirt path behind it,
"You up there, hold on a minute would ya?" Jai shouted up towards the girl "Would you like to battle? Oh im Jai Tari by the way you are?" Jai asked with a small smile towards his Houndour who had sat himself down infront of Jai, Jai gave a saddened look remembering that. Sam his father's houndoom used to do that aswell, Jai looked back towards the girl on the Skarmory to see if they would land or fly onwards.

Janessa turned around when she heard a male voice shout something about a Skarmory- and she could safely assume that it was her Ganbaatar that the voice was talking about, since there weren't any wild Skarmory here... at least not that she had noticed. She saw a guy with purple hair and dark clothes walking towards her... and he had an awesome, adorable little Houndour!
Janessa smiled and walked towards the boy and his Houndour. "Hi!" She replied in a friendly tone. "I'm Janessa Rayya... and a battle sounds like a great idea!" She added enthusiastically. Of course, now she had to decide who to battle with. Pyrrhus, or Ganbaatar... hmm. Well, this trainer looked like a new trainer, so fighting with Pyrrhus would probably be more fair. Fire versus fire, this would be interesting.
Janessa took Pyro's pokeball off of her belt, and then released the Growlithe that was contained within. "Okay, Pyro. Ready for your first battle as my Pokemon?" She asked with a grin. Her little Pyro gave a creepy, toothy little grin in reply, and then turned to face Jai and his Houndour.

Jai smiled as this wome walked towards him and his Houndour. "Hi!" She replied in a friendly tone. Jai chuckled and sent an excited smile towards her, "All right Hellfire this is our first battle lets make it intresting" Jai stated with another wide smile.
Houndour jumped forwards between Janessa and Jai, Jai nodded towards Janessa as she introduced herself and admited a battle was a great idea, "I'm Janessa Rayya... and a battle sounds like a great idea!" she said enthusiastically. Jai gave her a warm welcoming smile before looking around the forest, the wind was still causing the trees to shake gentle, Houndour's ears seemed to twitch with every breeze and Jai was wondering why though he guessed he would never find out, he laughed maybe Houndour is nervous about its first battle, Jai nodded thats probabbly it i certainly would be if i was about to have my first ever fight.
Jai nodded and wondered what pokemon she was going to use, he had hoped the Skarmory, but wishes never did go well for Jai as she released a Growlithe before him, Jai leant his head back laughing hysterically "Oh the Irony" he muttered and looked back towards her and the Growlithe, his Houndour also swaping glances between them,
Jai nodded towards Houndour as the Growlithe stepped towards it to begin the battle, "Hellfire use howl then ember" Jai asked, Houndour let of a huge howl that sounded like it rivaled a wolf howl, Jai then looked towards it as red pieces of flames were sent towards Growlithe, Jai gave a small sigh and prayed that Growlithe didnt have flash fire since other wise this would be pointless Houndour had no other attack.

(Now is when you start keeping track of word count and exp. =D Just so you know.)
Janessa raised an eyebrow and then chuckled slightly as Jai threw his head back and began laughing like a madman. 'I didn't think that this match up was really that funny... but I guess that I'm probably missing something here...' She thought with a smirk on her face, amused at Jai's actions. Then she shrugged and took a few steps back so that there was a decent amount of room for the Pokemon battle that they were about to have. 'I just hope that we don't burn down the entire forest with our two fire dogs!' She thought with a soft laugh to herself.
As Jai began to give orders to his Houndour, which was apparently named Hellfire, Janessa began to consider Pyro's choice of attacks. Roar wouldn't really do any good in this particular situation, so that attack was ruled out. That left Bite and Ember, both of which were offensive. Dark type and fire type attacks... the exact same type of Pokemon that Houndour was. 'Well, that's interesting.' Janessa thought. That meant that both attacks would only do half of the damage they were supposed to... but that would be okay for this battle, because if Janessa had guessed the Houndour's level correctly, then the only offensive attack he would know at this point would be Ember, and that would only do half damage on her fiesty little Growlithe. So she should be safe... right?
Then Janessa realized that as she had been considering methods and choices of attacks, the battle had begun without her knowing it. She flinched just a bit as her poor little Pyro was hit with the Ember attack that the Houndour had shot at him. She really had to concentrate now. Pyro stood at the ready, staring at his opponent and easily ignoring the slight pain that his opponent's ember attack had just caused him. Janessa smiled at the attitude of her Growlithe. It encouraged her.
"Okay, Pyro. Use your ember attack on the Houndour, and then slowly get a bit closer." Janessa commanded, trying to think quickly. The close range embers would do more damage... so both of the Pokemon could cause more damage and also take more damage. But she had an idea that just might work... she would find out eventually if her plan was to succeed. For now, she just had to watch and wait and try and help out her eager Pyro, who was now shooting some little red and orange flames at his opponent and slowly walking towards the Houndour, while staying just slightly crouched down.
This was definitely going to be an interesting battle. And Janessa was most definitely looking forward to it... as was Pryo.

Jai smiled "oh right sorry to clarify things, when i choose Houndour as my starter I was also offered a Growlithe, it was a very tough call so this battle sort of reminded me of that. i decided on Houndour though because of my father, Sam Tari he was a specialist dark trainer like i plan to be and his houndoom was my best friends as grow up at the torture that was supposed to be a home" Jai stated warmly.
Jai watched as his houndour extecuted his orders withought hesitation. Hellfire executed them perfectly causing Jai to smile hapily he had wondered if he would be listened to straight away or if he would need to gain Houndours trust, though that fear was clearly unneccesary Houndour had done exactly what he had been asked to do.
Jai sighed the howl was sort of pointless at least at the moment since howl raised attack not special attack, Leer was also as useful still it didnt they were there he may as well use them, Jai shruged and looked from the Growlithe, towards its owner, Janessa waiting for her move.
Jai wondered what she was going to call to attack with, he stood there quite full of nerves fidgeting with his fingers. he wasnt sure if Janessa knew it but only one attack would work though due to Hellfire's flash fire ability. it would prevent any fire attack from the growlithe and also boost Helfire's fire power.
bite would work, though only at half power, due to Hellfires rare dark/fire typing the dark move bith would only do half the damage to normal... whilst fire attacks would do absolutely nothing Jai gave another mechanical laugh still waiting for the attack from Janessa.
Jai smiled as Pyro was hit with the Ember. good least that worked he thought, "Okay, Pyro. Use ember on the Houndour, and slowly get closer." Janessa asked, Jai beamed cheerfully at her attack. "Hellfire do all you can to let that hit you" Jai asked. The houndour nodded and didnt move a muscle waiting for the attack to colide with it. The attack struck Hellfire and did nothing thanks to flash fire.
Jai smiled and looked uptowards Janessa to explain what happened if she didnt already know. "due to flash fire, Hellfire has an immunity to Fire type moves, so that would do absolutely no damage from that attack, and all Fire-type moves used by this Pokémon deal 50% more damage, so you have given him full power back, thanks" Jai stated with a wide smile, wiping his head to remove the sweat that was already begining to form on his head.
"Hellfire leer then ember" Jai asked, Houndour glared at the growlithe, this would lower its defences if it hit the growlithe, Jai's Houndour then shot red flames towards the Growlither it once more. This was definitely going to be an interesting battle. Jai thought things were on even ground now well actually he knew he had a little advantage now..

Janessa laughed slightly as Jai told her of her mistake. She was actually quite amused at herself and at the situation... she hadn't even considered the Houndour's ability while she was formulating this plan. "Oopsies!" She said with a giggle. Obviously she wasn't too bothered by the fact that she had just boosted the enemy's attack power. "Well, I won't be making that mistake again." She vowed good-naturedly, already planning her next attack. Well that totally and completely foiled my plan... though I'll keep that plan in mind for my next opponent who hopefully won't have the Flash Fire ability... So! Time for a new plan of attack, then!' Janessa was obviously very enthusiastic about this battle. Her mistake with the Houndour's Flash Fire ability hadn't lessened her excitement one little bit.
Pyro was caught up quite easily in the leer attack, which lowered his defenses just a bit. However, Janessa wasn't about to just stand by and watch. She was completely involved in this battle. "Pyro! Roll to the side, and then hop up and attack!" Janessa commanded suddenly and loudly, speaking so quickly that she almost tripped over her words as she was saying them. Pryo quickly and willingly obeyed his master, dropping to the ground and rolling to one side to avoid the fiery embers that were shot in his direction from the Houndour. Then he lept up and forwards in one fluid motion, and without hardly thinking about what 'attack' Janessa had meant, he attempted to chomp down on the enemy Houndour's shoulder with a strong and vicious Bite attack.

Jai watched as Janessa laughed slightly as he told her of her mistake. Jai gave a small sigh he hadn't planed to seem to be such a jerk he just wanted to help her, he thought that by explaining what she had done it would make her sure to check an pokemon's ability before a battle, he shruged it was quite clear Janessa hadn't apreciated being told what she had done.
Jai noted however that she had said "Oopsies!" with a giggle, which made him smile quite allot, maybe she had apreciated being told her mistake, he looked towards her before looking back away towards the match, "Never can tell what a girl is thinking" he muttered to himself.
he kicked a small rock on the path infront of him to the side it collided with a small tree and fell towards the ground. Jai looked towards it before returning to the matched, Janessa clearly didny seem to bothered by her mistake however Jai knew since Janessa was only doing half damage whilst he was doing full he was sure to have an advantage as long as his hits remained on target obviously. "Well, I won't be making that mistake again." She vowed Jai smiled he was glad to hear this though he doubted Hellfire had apreciated him telling her his ability.
Jai raised his head from the match once more as Janessa began to speak once more "Well that totally and completely foiled my plan... though I'll keep it in mind for my next opponent who doesn't have the Flash Fire ability... So! Time for a new plan of attack!" Janessa was clearly quite enthusiastic about battling, Jai also was enjoying this match allot more then he had anticipated.
Jai nodded toward Hellfire as Pyro was caught up quite easily in the leer attack, which lowered his defenses just a bit. Jai watched to see what Janessa would do about ember "Pyro! Roll to the side, and then hop up and attack!" Janessa commanded suddenly and loudly, Pryo quickly and willingly obeyed his master, dropping to the ground and rolling to one side to avoid the fiery embers that were shot in his direction from the Hellfire.
Then the growlithe lept up and forwards in one fluid motion, he attempted to chomp down on the enemy Houndour's shoulder with a strong and vicious Bite attack. Hellfire flinched slightly being bitten by the growlithe however he soon returned to his normal self since bite was only at 30 power with no other benefits, "Hellfire ember whilst its close" Jai asked, Hellfire quickly turned towards it shooting amber coloured sparks at it once more, Jai then remembered something if a pokemon uses a move of its type it recieves stab, so Houndour's ember was at 40% power level normally and after stab it would be at 60.

(Just for future reference the stuff that is in 'italics' is what Janessa is thinking, not what she is saying. =D Just so you know. And I think that I'm gonna start bolding her speech, too, like I do on Asyreos...
Oh guess what Bella changed the rules so that when Serebii says two abilities for one Pokemon, we get both instead of just choosing one! But for the sake of this battle, we will just say that Growlithe only has intimidate. Because like you said if he had the Flash Fire ability, this battle would be pointless, lol.... but after this battle Pyro will have both Flash Fire and Intimidate.)
Janessa and Pyro both flinched a little bit as the fiesty little Growlithe was hit in the middle of the back with the Houndour's ember attack. 'Hmm... that dang Flash Fire ability that Jai's Houndour has might have cost us the battle... oh well, we can't win them all, right? We have got to lose a battle or two at some point. Besides, even if we do lose, we can still get some very valuable knowledge and experience... Yeah... But, hey, this battle isn't over yet!' Janessa thought, regaining some of her trademark enthusiasm by the end of that stream of thought.
One good thing about not dodging the Houndour's ember attack was the fact that her Pyro was still very close to the enemy Houndour. "Pryo! Aim for the legs when you bite, and try to impair the Houndour's speed and movement a little bit!" Janessa commanded her Growlithe. Pryo nodded, and then quickly leapt forward and attempted to bite at the Houndour's front leg or paw or ankle, or whatever he could get at, to try and impair the Houndour's ability to move and dodge. If they could just do that, then attacking and dodging would be just a little bit harder for Jai's Houndour, and also just a little bit easier for her Growlithe.
After Pyro attacked, he stayed crouched low, close to the ground. When he was in this kind of a position, it made it easier for him to react faster. From this position he could attempt to dodge an attack, or he could suddenly spring forward to go on the offensive. As he crouched, he kind of side stepped around his opponent, sort of like how two fighters in a boxing ring might move. Pyro was prepared, as always, to spring into action at the slightest hint from his trainer. He grinned wickedly like the mischevious little trickster that he was... grinning at his opponent as he waited for something to happen, whether it would be a command from Janessa or an attack from his opponent.
Janessa sighed very quietly as she tried to think up what she should have her Pyro do next. Now that the ember attack was down and out, she was having a harder time thinking of a good plan of attack for the battle. 'I suppose I'll just have Pyro bite the heck out of that dang Houndour until I can think of something better... if I ever think of something better! Jeez.' She thought to herself. 'Wait a minute... maybe I shouldn't have ruled out Roar... it could be used, even though it wouldn't have the same effect as normal, perhaps it could still be used to startle the Houndour. That definitely could be useful...' She thought, attempting to brainstorm. Then she shrugged and snapped out of her little daze, returning her focus to the battle that was unfolding in front of her.

(awsome congrats and i get early bird so will wake from sleep faster)
Jai gave a small smile as both Janessa and Pyro both flinched, as Hellfire embers struck the little fiesty little Growlithe in the middle of the back.*'Hmm, we gunna have to watch those bites we don't need the flinching still 90% chances of not flinching should mean nothing to worry about*Jai thought, He gave a wide smile *this was certainly going to be an interesting first battle* Jai thought once more.
Jai gave a rather worried look when he saw Pyro was still very close to the Hellfire, "Hellfire put some dis-". "Pryo! Aim for the legs when you bite, and try to impair the Houndour's speed and movement a little bit!" Janessa commanded her Growlithe her voice cutting Jai's off, he gave a rather agitated sigh but allowed her to finish he could always say his after her anyway.. The growlithe then quickly leapt forward and attempted to bite at Houndour, "Sorry I don't think so Hellfire get back then use ember"
Hellfire Jumped backwards so the Growlithe hit nothing except the air, since Growlithe was now hitting nothing but air Hellfire shoot another ember at it, the embers shoot towards the Growlithe once more, Hellfire then turned and ran backwards eager to put some distance between them, with distance between the the bites will be easier to see coming and give Hellfire more time to dodge, least that what Jai hoped, he smiled though it seemed Janessa was going to rely on bite's incredible small flinch rate which was surely good news for him.
Jai sighed looking back towards Janessa, *Aww man I wish i had my father's hellfire right now it had allot more attacks and was far more intresting to watch battle this seems very basic* Jai thought to himself, he shock his head wildly *nows not the time to get distracted.*
Jai smiled, he looked towards Janessa *Just because were in a battle doesn't mean i cant try and socialise* Jai though to himself. "So Janessa, whereabouts are you from?" Jai asked with a small smile, he wondered if this seemed kind of weird, however being raised in isolation meant he didn't get many chances to talk, Janessa also seemed very intresting so he wished to find out a little more about her before they went they're seperate ways at the end of the battle.

(^_^ Okiedokie then.)
Janessa smile apologetically as she realized that she had interrupted Jai's order when she had shouted out hers. "Sorry." She mumbled with a small grin. She couldn't help it, most of the time she was way too entranced in the battle to notice what the other trainer was doing or saying, That was something else that she had to work on... but, hey, she'd get better at this Pokemon trainer business eventually. Or, at least, she hoped so! 'That's the point, isn't it? To get better, improving yourself and your Pokemon? While having fun doing it, of course.' Janessa thought, becoming content with her current weaknesses because she knew that she would be improving on them as she went along on this journey.
Then Janessa frowned slightly as Jai's Houndour managed to dodge Pyro's bite attack. 'This guy is pretty good for a beginner. He looks like he's fresh out of the lab, but... he's good! And so is his Houndour! This is an intense battle.' She thought as she was trying to decide what to do next. "Okay, Pyro, ignore the ember attack. Catch up with that fleeing Houndour and land a bite attack on it no matter what!" Janessa commanded, as her usual smile returned to grace her lips. Nothing could keep her down for long, that was for sure. It was one of her strengths- thankfully she had those, too, and not just weaknesses!
Pyro nodded in response to his trainer's orders. He tucked his head down closer to his chest and charged forward so quickly that the embers barely touched him. He shot towards the enemy Houndour like a bullet from a gun, with his teeth bared viciously. He was trailing along right behind him- if the Houndour turned around to attack or if he slowed down even in the slightest, then he would be able to land a nice hard bite on one of its legs. Janessa nodded slightly to herself, approving of the situation.
Janessa blinked in surprise as Jai began speaking to her, asking her where she was from. She wondered if it was just a ploy to distract her from the battle, but then she saw the look on Jai's face and decided that there wasn't any malice intended or any trap laid for her. It was just an honest attempt at socializing. She smiled as she responded. "Oh, my family move around a lot when I was young. Like, a lot a lot, but at least we always stayed within Star Region.. I was born in Summer Town, but I only lived there for the first two years of my life. Then we moved to Reinshaw Town, then Haven City, then Corel City, then Haven City again and then Reinshaw Town again. My family still lives in Reinshaw Town, but I got sick of relocating all the time and so I started my Pokemon journey!" Janessa explained, blushing slightly as she realized that she had been rambling slightly. But it wasn't her fault that her family had moved a lot! "What about you? Where are you from?" She asked, keeping an eye on the battle as she spoke.

Jai chuckled, as Janessa smiled apologetically, to him "Sorry" she mumbled with a small grin. Jai nodded he really didn't mind he just hoped she could understand it really hadn't bothered him at all, he to often got to involved in battles. *I guess it's normal to become abit engulfed in the battle* he thought, with a small warm smile.
He nodded silently with a wide grin upon his face *thats deffinately something I need to work on... but, hey, he'd would improve as time went on, after all in the Pokemon trainer business, you will learn all sort of things as you battle, train and raise more pokemon after all 'That's the point, isn't it? To get better, improving yourself and your Pokemon? While having fun doing it, of course he hope he wouldnt be any different from anyone else for once after all Jai hated following the crowd, he always found individuality the best trait he had.' Jai thought, becoming content with the weaknesses he knew he had after all they would soon, be gone for he knew he would be improving on those weakness as he he travelled along on this journey.
Jai gave a wide smile as his Houndour, managed to dodge Pyro's bite attack. 'This girl was really impressing him, she was brilliant for a begining trainer. he sighed before looking up at her he thought she must already have the first badge because she was really good! And so is her Growlithe! he guessed the Skarmory must be as equally well trained. This was definately an intense battle, Jai smiled widely his first battle and this was totally amazing, He gave Janessa a wide grin "Thank you so much for this battle its been tottaly amazing and i really hope we can batle again when we are abit more advanced, after all what the point in battling if you don't have anyone to test yourself against" Jai muttered.
Jai paused as he thought about what he wanted to try next. Jai looked at Janessa as she said he paused who "Okay, Pyro, ignore the ember attack." Jai was slightly suprised as she ordered her Growlithe to run threw the ember attack,Jai smiled however as they struck the Growlithe "Catch up with that fleeing Houndour and land a bite attack on it no matter what!" She commanded, Jai gave a frown and a small sigh, *Oh so thats why you wanted Growlithe to take the ember huh?* he thought to himself, "that was a nice strategy" Jai told her, his face returned to its normal blank expression, he was after all quite emotionless since his fathers treatment of him. His smiles weren't really proper it was more a small sign of being impressed or enjoying himself.
Jai watched as Pyro nodded in response to her orders. Jai gave a rather panicked expression since Growlithe had run through the embers this was still very close, Hellfire looked towards the Growlithe, the Houndour looked a little worried due to distance he was sure it wouldn't be very easy to get out of the way.
The bite struck Houndour's body, as Hellfire turned sharply to try and get out of the way they're was a loud yelp from Houndour "Hellfire use smog" Houndour opened his mouth and sent black smoke at the Growlithe *smog had a 40% chance of inflicting possion, it would also deal a small amount of damage to the growlithe it's 20 power*
Where are you from?" She asked him,Jai chuckled that was a longer answer then he had expected he nodded "Okay im from Woodland town," he gave a small sigh not wanting to talk of his family, so he didnt mention they're was a little troubled history theyre after all.

(Okay, so, I definitely don't mena to be rude here, so please don't take it that way... Dx But could you please stop copy and pasting parts of my post into yours? I don't like having to re-read everything that I just barely posted, in your post. x.x Because it makes me not want to read your post because I don't wanna read what I wrote, I wanna read what you wrote! =D Ya know what I mean? I don't mind if you respond to everything that I type, just don't copy and paste it. ^_^)
Janessa smiled as Jai thanked her for the battle, and expressed his desire to battle again once they were both stronger. She nodded as she spoke, "Yeah, I totally agree. This has been an awesome battle so far, and I definitely hope we bump into each other later on. It will be fun to see how we've both changed, y'know?" She stated enthusiastically.
Then Janessa returned her attention to the Pokemon battle. She grinned victoriously as Pryo's bite attack finally managed to hit the Houndour. She crinkled her nose and scowled slightly as the Houndour twisted around and blew a smog attack at her Growlithe, who couldn't exactly dodge from the position that he was in. "Keep going, Pryo!" Janessa called out to him, crossing her fingers that he didn't get poisoned.
Pyro kept charging at his opponant, ignoring the burning feeling in his lungs that the Houndour's smog attack had caused him. He kept snapping at the Houndour's legs, trying to get another bite attack in. He was having the time of his life in this battle, chasing this Houndour around. He didn't even hardly notice that his health was slowly being drained by all the damage he had been taking in the last few turns.
Janessa looked back to Jai as he began to respond to her question. 'Hm, Woodland Town. One of the only cities and towns that I haven't lived in.' Janessa thought sourly as she recalled all those years of her life, moving from house to house to house to house... trying to make friends over and over again, and then losing them all when the family packed up and moved again... 'Urgh. Gotta stop thinking of that stuff. Its history.' She scolded herself with a frown. She also noticed that Jai seemed to be holding back something, as well... but she didn't bother him about it. She knew how it was to have an unpleasant past, although hers probably wasn't the worst one out there. She was lucky in many respects, and she knew it, so she tried not to always wallow in self pity, though it was hard sometimes. Then she stopped looking at Jai and looked back at the two battling Pokemon.
What Janessa saw nearly broke her heart! She wasn't a very experienced trainer, and so she wasn't very battle-hardened. So the sight of her darling Growlithe stumbling and falling to the ground because of poisoning was just a bit too much for her. It would hav been better if Pyro had been more experienced with battles and poisoning, but he was just as new to this as Janessa was. Pyro whimpered slightly, confused and hurt. He could feel the poison coursing through his veins. Janessa immediately returned her injured Pokemon.
"I'm sorry to end it so soon, but... you win!" Janessa said to Jai with a slight smile. "Pyro just isn't cut out yet to continue a battle while poisoned." She explained as she hooked Pyro's pokeball to her belt. "Thanks for the battle, though, it was great. Maybe we'll run into each other again some time!"
