She sat on the grass with her back up to one of the trees in Sakura Forest. Sakura, her Ponyta, grassed nearby as Kira inspected the pokeball with her Oddish inside. She wondered if she should let him out. But what if he ran away? That wouldn’t be good. Could pokemons deny their trainer and just run away? That would be rude of them… On the other hand, what if the trainer was a bad person? Would pokemon then think about running away to never come back to their trainer? What if I’m not a good trainer? Kira wondered. But it was a stupid thought. Sakura liked her, that was pretty clear already – even though they hadn’t really fought any battles with another trainer yet. What pokemon would she choose first if another trainer appeared and wanted a battle? Probably depended on the other trainer’s pokemon… She didn’t know if she would use Oddish yet. She was more excited about using Sakura and her newly hatched Gastly.
Kira fastened Oddish’ pokeball onto her belt. It was probably best to wait a bit longer with letting him out. But she shouldn’t wait for too long. She also wanted to train him – make him a little stronger so he could teach other attacks than the one he already had.
((OOC: Well, not a very good one, but here you go, let’s soon get a battle started! ^^))

Sakura Forest wasn't a place Janessa visited very often, because it kind of felt like she was regressing in her journey, instead of progressing. But, for one reason or another, she found herself back in this place again, wandering aimlessly.
Sanja and Malvolio were walking behind their trainer, babbling away like normal. The two of them were beginning to be the best of friends. It was pretty comical to see them together. Malvolio was always chattering away about his newest scheme or idea or invention, and Sanja was always gawking, wide-eyed and open-jawed at him.
Somehow, Malvolio was the first to spot Kira and her Ponyta. He practically exploded, startling both his trainer and his buddy, Sanja. The little guy started hollering and yodeling and making all sorts of strange, loud noises that Janessa none of them could interpret. It was some sort of messed up war-cry, or something.
Janessa shushed her over-excited little Hoothoot with an embarrassed look on her face. "Sorry 'bout that. He's... odd..." She said, feeling a little bit lame for offering such a sorry excuse for Malvolio's behavior.

Sakura raised her head and started to listen. Kira noticed and listened too, but she couldn’t hear anything unusual. ”What is it Sakura?” she asked. ”I think it’s… Pokemon, and a human,” the Ponyta answered, still listening. And she was right. It didn’t take long before Kira could hear someone approaching and after that it took even less time before they could see the newcomers. It was a trainer on Kira’s age with her too Pokemon – a Hoothoot and another Pokemon Kira didn’t know. They didn’t look too strong so Kira assumed they were around Sakura’s level.
When the Hoothoot began to make strange noises, Sakura whinnied back to it and stamped a single time in the ground with a hoof. If the Hoothoot wanted a challenge, Sakura was ready to take it – as always. Of course it could always be the little Pokemon was friendly enough, but a battle was always welcome in Sakura’s opinion. As the young trainer excused for the Hoothoot’s noise, Kira raised from the grass with a friendly smile. ”Don’t worry, it is okay. Maybe he just wants a battle. What do you think? Oh, by the way, my name is Kira Takahashi, I’m a new trainer around here. What about you?”

Janessa smiled, relieved by the other trainer's friendliness. "My name is Janessa. Its nice to meet you!" She said, switching her gaze back and forth from Kira to Malvolio. "And, I think a battle sounds wonderful." She added after a moment's consideration. "After all, these two need some training. They're the newest members of the team." She gestured to Malvolio and Sanja as she spoke. Malvolio puffed himself up, trying to look buff. Sanja, however, leaned against Janessa's leg and looked a bit anxious.
Janessa leaned down and comforted Sanja in a soft, low voice. Sanja slowly began to calm down... but in the meantime, Malvolio was definitely ready for a battle. He stood in front of Janessa, balancing on one foot, looking defiantly at Kira and Sakura.
(Short, but I figure its better than nothing!)

"Okay." Janessa replied with a smile. "How about we just go with a single?" She wasn't sure how well her Pokemon would do in a double battle. They had never fought for her before, so this would be interesting enough trying to manage one of them- she didn't want to attempt to manage both of them at the same time. Especially if one- or both- of them turned out to be difficult. She didn't expect them to, but, you never could be sure 'til you tried.
Janessa looked from Sanja to Malvolio. 'Well, Sanja's a bit frightened, so perhaps Malvolio should go first. Sanja might gain a bit of confidence from Malvolio's battle... as long as I don't let him faint all the way.' She thought.
"Alright, Malvolio, you'll go first." Janessa said.

Two single-battles sounded fine to Kira. Then she could also focus more on each pokemon. Double-battles would not be easy before she got a little more experience than she was now. Janessa’s choice of pokemon was not surprising. The Hoothoot looked confident and ready for battle. She could of course use Sakura against the Hoothoot which would give her good chances of winning since Sakura was in level 9, but she had something else in mind.
”Oddish, I choose you!” She threw the pokeball and out of it came the little grass-pokemon in a flash of red light. “Oddish, Oddish” he said, narrowing his eyes, trying to look intimidating in the owl’s eyes. The owl was now the enemy, not the Ponyta, so it was the Hoothoot he would fight. But now he would only have to do what his trainer told him instead of just fighting on his own as he had done as a wild pokemon. Fighting with a trainer would make him stronger than if he was a wild pokemon, but he still had to get used to the thought of not being a wild pokemon anymore.
Kira knew that a grass-type would not be super effective against a flying-type. Actually, it was the other way around with the Hoothoot having a type-advantage, but since the Hoothoot was in a low level, Kira had the suspicion that it did not know any flying-type attacks which would be a good thing for Oddish. She might not win this first battle, but she would definitely give all she got and she was sure Oddish would do the same. ”Oddish, use absorb-attack!” It was the only attack he knew while being in level 4, but Kira could only hope he would learn new attacks soon enough. The Oddish swung his head, making green orbs fly toward the Hoothoot to absorb his energy.
