Of course her bike had chosen to be broken on this day! And of course she hadn’t checked it so she could’ve fixed it in time… So Kira found herself walking to the lab. Not that it was that far from her home, but it would still have been faster on her bike. The day was sunny though, and there were almost no clouds on the sky so it was a nice walk.
Her bag was on her back so she was ready to go as soon as she got her starter pokemon. She could feel the butterflies in her stomach. She was excited about it – in a good way. She knew how close a bond a pokemon and trainer could get, and this bond would be important in a battle against other trainers. She would become a good trainer – her grandfather had told her so, so that was what she intended to be. She’d heard so many stories, and now it was her turn to travel out in the world. Winning badges with her pokemon’s help, seeing many places and getting friends – humans and pokemon alike.
She finally came to the lab. She opened the door and looked in, a little shy. She went indoors and looked on all the things inside. She knew Professor Storm would be here somewhere, but it still felt odd to just walk in like this. ”Hello? I’m here for my first pokemon. Professor?” She placed her bag on the floor and went to a table where some empty pokeballs were placed.

everybody's got a part to play to start each day in a beautiful way It had been on of those rare, nice days. Work within her own laboratory was slowing with the summer heat, truth be told she didn't really mind. With things so quiet, the young lady had taken the time to get around to the work that required her to be outside her own lab. Delivering papers and reports mainly. Often professors shared there own experience and research with each other, to further the field of pokemon science.
This time, the journey had taken her across the region, just north of Storm town. The journey wasn't particularly taxing, especially with a teleporting pokemon but both her and her Alakazam were happy to be outside. She had met with Professor Storm a few hours earlier, but the Professor had to dash out to grab some reports from another building in the town and so Dr. X had decided there was no harm in hanging around the lab.
Hearing the door click open and a girl's voice, Dr. X whirled around, skipping forward merrily to greet her. "I'm sorry but Professor Storm isn't here right now but I guess I can help you, I'm sure she wouldn't mind. I'll just explain it to her, or leave her a note. Come in, come in" the blonde haired woman smiled infectiously, ushering Kira forward into the lab. Alakazam merely followed, a disapproving look on his face.
"Are you a trainer or a breeder?" she smiled, her wide eyes were alight with curiosity. "What type of pokemon are you interested in?"

A woman’s voice made her turn away from the pokeballs. It wasn’t Professor Storm, but a blonde woman Kira didn’t recall to have seen before. She smiled to the woman, who seemed to be pretty helpful, and went to her. Maybe the blonde woman wasn’t the Professor, but Kira was sure that she could help her just as well as if she was. She noticed the Alakazam. A physic pokemon if she remembered correctly, and the last evolving of Abra. Her grandfather had tried to teach her about different kind of pokemon, but it wasn’t always easy to remember – but that would work out soon enough when she could start travelling.
“Thank you for helping me, Miss. My name is Kira Takahashi,” she bowed slightly toward the blonde Doctor. ”I’m going to be a trainer – I would like to travel around and maybe be strong enough to challenge the Elite Four, even though I know it will be very hard to become that good,” she said with a shy smile. She knew many had tried to take up that challenge but not succeeded. Maybe she would. Either way, she was ready to take the challenge and try. But for now, it was time to choose the type of her starter, and she was pretty sure of what type she wanted – she just hoped it wasn’t too much to ask for. ”Uhm… I would like a pure fire-type, please,” she said.

everybody's got a part to play to start each day in a beautiful way Dr X laughed, casually waving off the bow. "No need for that here. We're all friends." she smiled, beckoning with her hand for Kira to follow her further into the laboratory. "It's a pleasure to meet you Kira. I'm Dr. Xerena Xanthe." she introduced herself. "But Dr. X will do, despite it sounding incredibly villainous. Everyone calls me that". Now, let's see here. She had been here numerous times before, but her face flushed a deep red as she twirled around, looking for the correct pokeballs.
"I'm sure there are fire types around her somewhere...", she mused as she began to rifle through shelves of balls, searching for the right ones. "A fire type will do you well for going through the gyms. They are powerful and loyal." she explained. "Ah! Here we are!" Dr X smiled with a clap of her hands, pulling a few pokeballs from the shelves. She thrust each ball of the ground and they opened with a brilliant of red light.
"First you've got a male Vulpix. A loyal fox type pokemon." she smiled, indicating the little brown fox.
"Next is a Ponyta. She'll evolve into a powerful Rapidash and they're very useful for transport."
"Third, a little Cyndaquil. She's quite shy and it'll take some effort but in the end, you'll be reward with a powerful Typhlosion."
"This is a Torkoal. A pure fire type. She's unusual and won't evolve but she'll pack a powerful punch."
"Last, but not least, of course, is a Tepig. He's a rare pokemon in this region, only just discovered here. I don't know much about him, but I'm sure you'd have a wonderful adventure finding out."

Kira smiled by Dr. X’s introduction. She was right, it sounded a bit villainous, but she was friendly enough, no doubt about that. Kira waited patiently as Dr. X searched through the shelves to find the correct pokeballs. She’d asked for a pure fire-type and luckily that hadn’t been too much to ask. Her eyes lighted up by Dr. X’s words about the fire-pokemon. “I’ve heard so too. And I’ve also been told some of them can be a bit difficult to train - but that all the hard training together will be rewarded later on.” She didn’t mind to fight for her goal of becoming a good trainer. Besides, if she wouldn’t do that, then she shouldn’t have chosen to become a trainer in the first place. She wondered shortly if many trainers chose to have a fire-pokemon as their starter.
When Dr. X found five pokeballs from the selves, Kira could feel she grew more excited. Each of the five pokeballs opened as soon as they were thrust against the floor. Red light came out of them and from each pokeball a fire-pokemon emerged. She looked on all the pokemon in turn. The Vulpix looked very cute and it would definitely become a fast partner. But so would the Ponyta – and not only fast, but strong too. The Cyndaquil was more of a mystery. Dr. X said it would become powerful, and as far as she recalled, also big. But brute strength wasn’t everything. The two last pokemon weren’t much in her interest. The Torkoal sure was an unusual one, and Kira didn’t know anything about it – apart from what Dr. X just had told her. Then there was the Tepig. It sounded like it was a pretty unknown pokemon. She thought a second, but then returned to look at the Ponyta and the Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil was, as far as she remembered, a rare pokemon, but that didn’t necessarily mean it was the right pokemon for her as her starter. With a few more seconds of thought, she’d chosen which one of them she wanted.”I’ll take the Ponyta. I’m sure her and I will become very good partners,” she said, and for the first time inside the lab, she felt really confident about her choice. It was the right one for her, she was sure of it.

everybody's got a part to play to start each day in a beautiful way "A marvelous choice Kira. I'm sure you won't be disappointed." Dr X smiled. "Just give me one moment. Sorry guys, better luck next time" the professor explained, giving the other pokemon a weak smile. New trainers passed through the doors everyday and she was confident that they would find loving homes. Today was just not the day. With a small click, she expanded the pokeballs, returning the unchosen four to their pokeballs and then to the shelves. Lastly she returned the Ponyta to its pokeball, handing it to Kira.
Name: Ponyta Gender: Female Level: 5 Abilities: Run Away: Except for trainer battles, can always run from battle. Cannot run during Mean Look or Block or when the opponent is trapping with the Arena Trap, Magnet Pull, or Shadow Tag ability. - Flash Fire: Activates when user is hit by a damaging Fire-type move (including Fire-type Hidden Power). Once activated, user’s Fire-type moves deal 1.5 times damage. While this ability is in effect, this Pokémon is immune to damage from Fire-type attacks. Attacks: Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip.
Turning back to rummage in a drawer, she pulled out a small bag of items. "I see you've got your own bag, so feel free to decant the items into your own." the Dr offered, handing her the bag. "I guess that's all you need. I wish you the best on your journey and hope I'll see you again sometime."
You also received: Pokedex x1 (of your choice in colour) Pokeball x5 Potion x5 Full Heal x4 Town Map x1 Pokedex x1 Berry Bag x1 TM Case x1

Kira took the pokeball with the Ponyta inside it when Dr. X gave it to her. Now she had her starter pokemon, and she needed a name. She had one in her mind and hoped the Ponyta would like it as well. She put the pokeball on her belt and it almost became as small as a marble. The other four pokemon were back in their pokeballs on the shelves, and Dr. X had gathered some other things for her which would become useful on the trip. ”Okay, thank you Dr. X” she said as the Doctor handed her a bag. It didn’t take her a long time to put the things down in her own bag, and there was still place to a little more if needed. ”I hope to see you again Dr. X, you’ve been a great help for me,” she said joyfully and bowed slightly before she headed for the door. ”I hope you and your pokemon get a nice day!”
Then she was outside. She took a deep breath and sighed happily. It was a very nice day so it was a perfect start on her journey. She started to walk away, knowing perfectly where she was heading.
((End of thread if there’s nothing more she needs ^^))
