Staryu didn't have the time to react. The Groovyle disappeared in a blur of green and he couldn't pin point the exact location. Hedging his bets, he thought it was best to try and defend himself from any unseen attacks, rather than try to find the Groovyle. The red eye in the centre began to glow, a silver sheen covering the Staryu, hardening his skin to withstand any attack. Thinking of a way to draw out the grass type, he flung his body face down into the same. He began another rapid spin. Twirling around, he began to whip up sand around him, creating a mini sand twister around him. In the perfect scenario, it would suck up the Groovyle too, if not, hopefully the flying sand would blind him momentarily so the Staryu could pinpoint and attack him.

Grovyle's experience, combined with the species' already astonishing speed, mobility and his own muscle memory, allowed the Grass type to evade the Water pokemon's second Rapid Spin attack, the lizard flinging himself backwards as the Staryu fell forward. Barely managing to dodge the improvised version of Sand Attack as well, Grovyle thought over the situation in a blink of an eye. This was getting annoying, and more than anything because of his own sensibilities. Truth be told, Grovyle knew full well he could likely just take a hit from the Rapid Spin and end the fight with a Leaf Blade or Mega Drain - even Aerial Ace or Slam would likely just end it there and then, but it would mean taking a hit to get close enough, something which he'd instinctively tried to avoid and would continue to avoid at all costs. Deciding he was through playing games, Grovyle held his hands a few inches apart and facing each other in front of himself, a glowing green orb snapping into existance for a moment before Grovyle flung the Energy Ball at the spinning Staryu, intending to end the fight then and there.
