Poké-station Rikora
In the year 2020, all seemed peaceful on the planet.
Villains like Team Rocket and Team Galactic had been disbanded and criminal activity was at an all time low.All seemed to be going well, Pokemon and humanity were living in harmony and there was almost world peace.
But, of course, nothing good lasts forever.
On December 24th, Christmas Eve of 2020, scientists in an observatory recently built in the Kanto region looked to the stars.
They didn't like what they saw.
A large meteor almost the same size as Earth was closing in. They estimated that the world had 2 years until impact. All the professors from across the planet gathered for a conference. At said conference, It was decided that instead of waiting to be crushed, they would evacuate.
Evacuate the planet Earth.
For the next year and a half, non-stop work in every country across the planet brought the space station "Rikora" into existence. The last 6 months before departure was spent rounding up every Pokemon around. From the deepest depths of the ocean, to the farthest reaches of the sky, all Pokemon possible were rounded up and brought aboard the station. Even the Legendaries, the Pokemon that spawn generations of myths and wondrous story's showed themselves for the first time.
Finally, one week before what would come to be known as "Zero Hour", the station was packed with all the fuel, food, water, and inhabitants they could carry. The station roared off into the sky, reaching the atmosphere in a matter of hours, the inhabitants anxiously awaiting the arrival of the meteor.
"Zero Hour" Finally arrived at midnight on January 13th, 2021. The inhabitants of Rikora watched with baited breath and tears in their eyes as the huge chunk of space rock hurdled into their old home. They really were stuck aboard the space station.
CURRENT DAY
It has been 10 years since the event known as "Zero Hour" occurred. Humans and Pokemon alike have once again grown to live in harmony. The ability to synthesize minerals has allowed for expansion on the station, allowing an artificial "Trainer Zone" to be created. Now, trainers can return to the thrills of capturing wild Pokemon and earning badges again. The meteor, now called "A-31", due to a large deposit of an unknown mineral found on the surface, has been thoroughly searched and scouted, and is now being used for its ores and minerals.
Today, January 13th, 2031, ten years after Earth's destruction, I, the lead Professor of Rikora, Professor Hill, declare the Rikora region,
OPEN!
