Leo and Ponyta were galloping along at a steady pace. They were eager to get to the pokemon lab. He already knew who his starter pokemon was. The very ponyta he was riding. Leo and Ponyta were best of friends after the time Leo saved Ponyta from The Order. Armed with his best and only friend, Leo knew that once he got his pokedex and pokeballs, he could be the most powerful trainer anyone had seen.
Leo saw the lab in the distance, a faint smudge growing with each passing second. "Ponyta! There it is! Lets hightail it bud!" And with a light nudge to Ponyta's side, the shot of at incredible speed. Both of them were excited to start their journey and Ponyta gave a cheerful whinny as they dashed down the trail that lead to their new adventure.
"Whoa there Ponyta, we're here!" As Leo pulled on the reigns and Ponyta came to a slow trot, Leo hopped off. "I'll go in and get the stuff, you stay here. And the next time you'll see me, I'll be a Trainer." Leo grinned as Ponyta nodded his head up and down excitedly. Leo turned accended the stairs, knocking at the door politely.

Leo was subjected to a short, momentary wait before the door was answered. The woman who did so was in her late thirties, and very pleasant looking. Her black hair had tiny streaks of dark gray, which were similar in color to her eyes. She smiled brightly at the boy before her, and opened the door a bit wider. As she did so, more of the lab could be seen behind her.
Directly in front at the very back of the room sat a rather large desk, covered with papers and empty coffee mugs, and of course a full, fresh and steaming one. To the left was a huge window, which was actually a sliding glass door, that lead out to a great open pasture of green grass, and was clearly where pokemon were let out to play. To the right, an open room that was obviously a lounge, and a set of grand stairs that lead upward. To the right of the desk, at the far back, a large open archway stood, leading into a dark room.
"Hello there." She greeted the boy, her voice reflecting her kind demeanor, "How may I help you?"

Leo waited until the door opened to a pretty older woman. He looked at her and sort of glanced behind her to see the lab. It looked a bit dirty and unkempt where the desk was, but cleaner in the rest of the room. Leo thought about what to say. He couldn't say he was here for his first pokemon, he already had Ponyta though he had't really caught Ponyta in a pokeball.
"I came to get the Trainer stuff, but I don't need a starter pokemon. Me and Ponyta decided that he would be my first, though I haven't caught him yet. Technically." Leo replied to the woman before him in a simi-shy manner. "I know usually the lab is supposed to give us starters but..."
Leo looked back at Ponyta who reared and whinnied encouragingly. Leo smiled for just a moment before returning his attention to the lab woman. "My name is Leo, and this is my partner Ponyta. We would like to start our journey together."

The woman glanced over Leo's head and noted the waiting Ponyta. So he had a pokemon? Then he wasn't here for a starter. Odd. It was uncommon that someone of his age should visit her unless they were here for their first pokemon. The woman's gray gaze returned to Leo as he spoke, an eyebrow arching upward at his words. Well, that was different. She wasn't sure she'd ever had someone stop by just for the starter items, and not the pokemon. Her gaze flickered momentarily to the Ponyta a second time, then returned to Leo, a smile brightening her lips.
"Oh really?" She inquired, letting the door swing open fully and taking a slight step backward, "Well, that's interesting! Very interesting, and wonderful!" So he'd met the fire-type on his own, and it had decided to accompany him? A fine story indeed. "Well, come on in Leo, and I'll set you up with everything you need." She turned her back toward him and retreated deeper into the lab, immediately making her way over to the disarrayed desk.
"What color pokedex would you like?" She asked.

Leo was slightly bewildered at the woman's outgoing nature for her age. Professors are odd, to say the least. The black haired, red eyed boy thought to himself as he slid his headset to rest around his neck. What's so interesting about being friends with a wild pokemon? Leo thought, always thinking that all pokemon where friends. I hope Ponyta is fine out there.
The quiet boy stepped into the lab and paused a moment before entering further, taking in the rooms layout. It was huge, and he could see many different pokemon playing in a field outside a sliding glass door. Amazing... He thought before returning his attention to the lab woman. "Black?" He said questionably, not sure whether they had the color or not.

"Of course!" The Professor exclaimed, before pausing in mid-step to glance back over her shoulder at Leo, "I'm Professor Storm, by the way. Sorry for the late introduction, it completely slipped my mind!" With the thousands upon hundreds of things going on in her day to day life, the Professor could get a little frazzled and disheveled, but despite that she kept things going with extreme efficiency and proficiency. She continued around the desk and opened up a file cabinet, from which she drew a black pokedex. She carried it with her as she disappeared back through the archway. She reappeared a moment later, in the process of slipping a pokeball and the pokedex into a small black bag, "Here you are." She said, the smile returning as she offered Leo the bag, "Your items." Leo quietly watched the lab woman as she introduced herself. He quickly replied, "Nice to meet you." And waited for her to finish what she was doing. You would think she'd have remembered to do so after I had introduced myself not moments before. I hope Ponyta isn't getting impatient. I know I am, and I'm the one in here. He thought to himself quickly, watching Professor Storm fumble with her desk before opening a file cabnet.
I wonder where she's going? He thought when she suddenly disappeared into the back of the lab. Seeing her place a pokeball and his pokedex into a bag, he got a little excited, though he never showed it threw his cold outlook. Leo always looked cold towards people. He had felt that pokemon were the only ones he could trust after her parents abandoned him 7 years ago, and that mistrust still stands, though he was very well behaved.
An idea popped into Leo's head. The Professor had given him only 5 pokeballs, normally beginners get a starter so thats all they need, but he didn't need one because he had Ponyta. But Ponyta doesn't have a pokeball. "Would I be able to have 1 more pokeball? For Ponyta? It's okay if not but I... Nevermind." He thought thinking better of the idea. I'll buy another or something.

The Professor smiled at Leo's request, "One step ahead of you, dear." She replied kindly, "I've already put one in there for you." The bags were set up with the required starter items, and the accurate amounts. So the pokeball that she had been seen inserting into the bag was a sixth and an extra for the new trainer's Ponyta. She didn't know whether he would use it, but she'd thought it would be nice to have. And it appeared that she had been right.
She held out the small bag for him to take, "Here you are, I believe you're all set."

Leo was glad she had provided the sixth pokeball, and was grateful to accept the bag of supplies. Going threw the bag he placed the pokeballs in holders at the waist of his pants. Then he grabbed the pokedex and put it in his right pant pocket. He neatly put the other items in his backpack and gave a small bow(japanese-like) before saying, "Thanks Professor."
Leo turned and exited the lab, rushing down the stairs to Ponyta. "I got the stuff! We're official!" Leo said excitedly to the just as eager ponyta. Leo picked a pokeball from his waist and looked at Ponyta. "Are you ready friend? Our dream is finally coming true." Ponyta took a few paces back and watched Leo. "Pokeball go!" He tossed the pokeball into the air. A bright red beam shot towards Ponyta and he was sucked in. The pokeball shook side to side 3 times before stopping still as it lay on the ground.
Leo ran over to it and held it into the air. "I caught, a ponyta!" He smiled and called out, "Come on out Ponyta!" as he tossed the ball into the air once more. With a "pop" sound the pokeball opened letting it's red light flood out to produce it's contents. Ponyta whinnied cheerfully and Leo hugged him. "Are you ready friend? Let's start our adventure." Leo hopped onto Ponyta's back. With a light tap to the ponyta's side they were off like a cowboy into the sunset.
