It was a lovely day. Kari was in to good of a mood to think clearly as she gathered up the few items that she still had. Once everything was in her bag, she left the hotel room and dashed down the stairs, dropping off the room key at the front desk.

The black haired seventeen year old bounced down the street, her hands laced behind her back as she made her way to the Pokemon Lab. Finally. Finally she would be able to get her first Pokemon. She'd really be a Pokemon Trainer, and she wouldn't have to worry about her parents suddenly swooping in to drag her to Unova.

Kari bounded up the steps to the Pokemon Lab, and, in her excitement, didn't even knock, just pushed open the door.

"Hello? Is anyone here? I'm here to finally get my first Pokemon!"

Kari bounced on the balls of her feet in excitement, looking around the Lab in an almost hyper fashion.

[Flash~!]

A man looking around his mid-twenties could be seen behind the desk, filing papers and typing on the computer. When he heard someone coming in through the door, he looked up through the large, black glasses that sat on the bridge of his nose. As he was about to give her a nice welcome, something started to growl from under the desk. A Growlithe then ran out from the side of the desk; an angry look upon it's face and it's body in an attacking position. The man behind the desk sighed before reaching down and picking up his Pokemon with one hand and sitting it on his lap.

"Growlithe, stop it!" The man scolded, causing the Growlithe to whimper. "Sorry about that, he's very territorial. Anyways, you say your here for a starter? Are there any types you might be interested in?" He asked, fixing his glasses halfway through his sentence.

The bouncing seventeen year old was taken aback by the Growlithe running out from under the desk. She was almost over joyed in the fact that it belonged to the professor, and that she wasn't interested in fire types.

"Actually, yes. For the longest time my father said that Dragon Type Pokemon where extremely dangerous. Do you have any that I could look at? If you don't, I'll take almost anything except a fire type or an ice type."

Those where the two types that Kari absolutely did not want to deal with. Fire because her father had been adamant about how great of Pokemon they made, and Ice because Dragon types, her preferred type, where weak against that. But she figured that the good professor didn't need to know her reasoning behind anything other than the type that she most wanted. In her mind, she could almost see herself cuddling an adorable Gible, or maybe a Trapinch or Horsea. Or she could get really lucky and get an ultra rare Dratini or Bagon! But Swablu where cute too. Then her mind went across all the other Pokemon that she might get shown, since Dragon types where so rare. Maybe a ghost type? Or a cute little Ralts!

And off went Kari's mind, working over all the Pokemon she might get shown to pick from. She'd probably jump at the first one that showed interest in her, or a lack of interest if that was how it went.

[Flash~!]

The man nodded, and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a pokeball, and with a "Return", a red beam of light engulfed the Growlithe and sucked him back into his pokeball. The lab assistant then got up from his desk, and held his hand up to the trainer. "Hold on a moment, I'll see what I can find for you." He said with a smile before walking behind a door. A few minutes later, he came back with three pokeballs in between his fingers. He simultaneously released all three Pokemon from their pokeballs, and let the trainer take a good look at them.

"Alright, first we have a Trapinch. It may be just a ground-type right now, but it'll evolve into a Vibrava, which is half dragon and half ground, and then into a Flygon, which is also half dragon and half ground. Next we have a Swablu, who will evolve into the half flying and half dragon Pokemon, Altaria. Finally, we have the water-type Pokemon Totodile. I know you requested Dragon types, but the first two were the closest things we have. While this Totodile is no Dragon, it's a fierce Water-type that will evolve into Crocanaw before evolving into Feraligator. It was also breed with a Dragon-type move, Dragon Claw." The man took a deep breath, and shot a smile at the trainer.

"So, do any of these Pokemon suit you?"

How could any of them not suit her? It was a hard choice, a very hard choice. She pointed between each Pokemon, realizing that none of them had approached her, nor hung back away from her.

"Enne meine miney mo, catch a Pokemon by the toe, if it hollars let it go, enne meine miney mo."

Out went poor little Swablu.

"My momma told me to pick the very best one and you are not it."

Her finger pointed to Totdile on it. She grinned.

"I'll be taking Trapinch then."

She frowned at the other two Pokemon, lacing her hands behind her back.

"I'm sorry I couldn't take all three of you."

She then looked at the Professor, smiling brightly at him. The Trapinch was adorable, and would make a great Pokemon once it was trained up correctly.

[Flash~!]

The Swablu and the Totodile sighed and frowned, but the lab assistant reassured them. "Don't worry, I'm sure there's a trainer out there somewhere that wants you guys." He said with a smile. The Pokemon grinned a little before they were returned to their pokeballs. He put their pokeballs on the desk, and would put them away after he made sure the trainer was ready to go on her journey. The lab assistant then returned the other two Pokemon, and handed them to the new nurse. He went behind his desk, opened a drawer, and pulled out a pink bag with items inside.
