General Appearance:

Always wears full-length gloves and a ribbon in her hair. She always wore a ribbon to tie back her hair when working with crops, and still wears it out of habit. She feels bald without a ribbon in her hair, nowadays. She has absolutely no fashion sense, and has a love for mixing and matching hand-me-down clothes which end up with her in the most horrendously adorable outfits. She's somewhat short, standing only at 5'5".

Personality:

Dakota is the epitome of innocence. Painfully optimistic and naive, she dedicates herself to keeping up morale along her travels. She's fairly assertive in her positivity. In the most dire and hopeless of situations, she never lets her hope waver. Beyond that, she's fiercely loyal and compassionate to her friends. Though she may seem shy at first, when given the chance to introduce herself, her attitude quickly becomes infectious. However, her childishness can sometimes be annoying, and can, on occasion, get her into trouble. She's very honest and sweet. Entirely incapable of lying to anyone, Dakota entirely lacks in guile when it comes to social situations.

'Kota also has a tendency to cling to people. She doesn't like losing friends or anything that means a lot to her. She doesn't like change, nor goodbyes. With her naive personality and vulnerability, she seems like a disaster just waiting to happen. If she didn't have her Vaporeon to look after her, there's no telling what dangers she'd frolic headlong into.

History:

She had grown up in about the simplest conditions possible. The daily routine was to wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast, and head out to the field where she would help her father in growing and harvesting the crops. Traditionally, the sons would help with this work, and mothers and daughters on the farm would stay inside and work around the house. However, having been an only child, Dakota's life became full of work from both worlds. However, she never once complained. Hardworking to the core, she was very helpful and always had a smile on her face. Her mother taught her to sew, and she quickly took to it. Re-patching her mother's old clothes, she made new ones for herself.

Both of her parents had been trainers at one point, but settled down together on a farm as breeders. One Pokémon they bred in particular constantly followed Dakota wherever she went. The farmgirl loved the company of the young Eevee, and she helped her with her work. She named it Pamuya and it protected her, or tried to, against every Bug Pokémon that she startled in the tall grass of the farm's fields-- though, she never once ordered it to fight. She was very grateful to have Pamuya.

One season was particularly bad for the farm, they had been suffering through a bad drought, and her parents sent Dakota to the riverbed on the outskirts of their fields with a few buckets in hopes that they could get just something to help a few of the dying crops. When they arrived, however, the stream had dried up, and where it once was was only the rocks and sand from the bottom. Here, however, they encountered a beautiful blue rock-- a naturally formed Water Stone. This evolved the young Eevee on the spot, making Pamuya a Vaporeon. Dakota, startled by this, brought her back to the farmhouse where her parents explained what had occurred. Since then, the Pokémon became very helpful around the farm during drought season, and 'Kota developed a liking for Water-type Pokémon.

When Dakota was still very young, her parents hired a farmhand to help with what she couldn't during large harvests. His name was Nate, and he was from the cursed town just North of the farm. She instantly developed a crush on this young man, and quietly swooned over him for a long while before meeting his younger sister, Katrina. Though many would imagine that Katrina's brash and fiery attitude would make her clash with the sweet girl's own, they managed to be the best of friends throughout their childhood. The two were inseparable, and Dakota constantly informed Kat of her affections for her brother.

One time Katrina and Dakota went exploring much farther than Dakota ever had. They arrived at the base of a volcano, where they were quickly confronted by a furious Charizard. It attacked Katrina without warning, and Dakota's first reaction was to block the attack herself. She dove in front of her best friend, receiving burns on her lower back and arms as she did. Kat suffered her own burns from the flames, but Pamuya reacted much more effectively. Without orders, she blasted the Charizard with her newly learned water gun attack. The three barely escaped after defeating the fire Pokémon, and traveled back to the safety of home where their burns were treated, but left major scars.

It was then that Katrina had decided to travel, and to protect herself with Pokémon of her own. Dakota, never wanting to lose her best friend, jumped at the idea of tagging along with her. She had her own plans to be a breeder like her parents once were. These days she travels along with Kat, her Vaporeon close by her side along the way.
