Janessa was finally ready.
...sorta. Maybe.
...hopefully...
Well, she would find out soon enough, right? And if she lost, so be it. She was completely fine with losing- she could always try again, and the second time around she'd definitely be prepared. Of course, winning the first time would be okay, too. As long as the gym leader put up a good fight! She wasn't really worried about that, though. Even though it was only the first gym leader, she was pretty confident that this would be a very challenge, interesting, and thrilling Pokemon battle. And she was definitely looking forward to this.
Janessa tried to think of a battle plan as she slowly meandered towards the big gym building. What Pokemon should be used? Ganbaatar was her highest leveled Pokemon, but he had a weakness to electric-types, so he probably wouldn't be the best in this particular battle. Nero was her weakest, so perhaps he should be kept out of this fight... That left Pyro, Disaster, and Aina. So she would try to keep it to those three Pokemon during this battle.
Janessa took a deep breath as she reached the gym. She raised her arm and knocked once on the door, before wondering if maybe she was just supposed to let herself in. It seemed more natural that way. She dropped her hand onto the door's handle and then pushed it open. She peeked her head around the door and looked about the gym. "Hello?" She called.

It was pretty funny. I mean, here he was just getting back from the PokeMart just to fall into line behind a girl who was heading to the gym. I mean, it wasn't like he was stalking her or anything... though she was pretty! Maybe she'd come by to express her undying love for him and his pokemon! The Gym Leader smiled amid his day dream. He watched the girl peek into the building, almost afraid to go in. Oooohhhh~ was she a trainer? "Welcome to Stormcloud Gym!" The blond haired teen introduced himself rather loudly from behind the girl. "You're looking for Caden? I hear he's not in right now. I mean, the sexy stud has a life... but he should be back any minute now! Just go in, make yourself at home, and get ready, Trainer. Though, there's a couple rules that'll be explained before the match begins." He winked at her before taking off through the other double door. After a few steps, he came to a skidding halt. "Ooooohhhhh~ this is an Electric Gym, so be prepared to use Palalyzation Heals! Water-types and Flying-types tend to be easy targets. Rock or Ground types give him the most trouble. It's all about strategy and overcoming significant odds to achieve your goal! Alright, gotta Jet!" He called back, running to the storage room to get the pokemon and change into the gym leader clothes... and retrieve a badge for a certain trainer should she win. The Gemini Badge. The famous twins of the sky that were not unlike two different sides of the same coin. Positive charges and Negitive charges, good and evil. The balance of everything, the balance between human and pokemon. * * * * * * * * * * "Thanks for waiting!" The Gym Leader's voice said over a PA system. It would have been very familiar, only a little changed in his best attempts at 'sexy' he could pull off. "You're here to challenge the illustrious leader, Caden? Enter the doors before you and take your first steps to becoming a Master!"Entering the double doors before her, Janessa would find herself entering what seemed to be a stadium without the seats. Rather, it was a gigantic indoor arena that was big enough to fit a Football field and then some. From her position near the doors, she would be able to see a single pillar not thirty meters off rising infront of her, rungs on the side of it, allowing for the trainer to climb. "Congratulations, trainer! You've taken your first step. Climb to the top of the Column before you and we'll begin!"Caden would wait for her to stand on the pillar across from him. She would have been able to see it from the ground as she made her way toward the pillar... but once standing on top of it, looking down at the field, she would find the space between her and the Gym Leader was filled with what seemed to be rods sticking up out of the ground. They were all the same height and seemed to be in a pattern, making triangles that left a meter between them for movement. On top of the metallic rods were orbs of what seemed to be glowing electricity. every once in a while, a crackle would snap from the orb to leave a trail of sparks flying from it. "Shocking, huh?" Caden asked, "It's the field we'll be using... and it's my design! I'd advise you not to touch them... then again, you might not be able to avoid it!" Caden smirked. "Before we start, I just want to lay down the ground rules. It'll be a three on three match. Only you, the challanger, can switch between pokemon. Neither participant can leave their pillar or forfeit the match." Caden laughed as he remembered past battles with the trainers arguing that it was unfair, they should be able to move wherever they wanted, "I used to have a huge problem with it before, new trainers and all!" He explained with a laugh. "And if you lose you have to go on a date with me!" He snuck in at the end. "You understand the rules?"

Much to her shame and slight embarrassment, Janessa couldn't help but jump as she was surprised and a bit scared by the male voice that suddenly cam from behind her. She didn't really have the chance to reply to the guy before he disappeared into the gym, leaving Janessa standing in the doorway, befuddled, disoriented, confused.
"Mmm..." Janessa mumbled as she thought about what had just happened. She slowly inched farther into the intimidating building. She quietly closed the door behind her, and then began looking around for the gym leader. She winced as the voice of the man suddenly came on over an intercom or something... Wait a minute, was that the same guy? She contemplated the possibility for a minute, but then anxiety and eagerness took over as she heard him begin to explain the rules of the gym battle.
Janessa scurried to the top of the column, moving quite quickly and agilely. She was used to climbing trees and hopping fences and scaling houses, so this wasn't that big of a deal for her. In no time at all, she had reached the top and was brushing the wrinkles out of her clothes as she stared across the gym at the leader.
"Date? Er... Well, I guess I understand." Janessa said, a grin slowly appearing on her face. "Three on three, I can switch, don't leave the pillar, date. Oh, and don't touch the rods." She reviewed, counting them off on her fingers. Then she chuckled and began thinking about her Pokemon. Which should she use? Not Gan, because of his type disadvantage. Haldor was kind of weak, but still a possibility because of his type advantage. Pyro? Aina? Disaster? They seemed like good choices.
Janessa looked back up at Caden and smiled. "I hope you're ready to lose- I have a few friends that might have a problem with you taking me out on a date." She teased with a laugh. She doubted any of the boys she had met so far- Fox, Ito, Lucas- would really mind if she went on a date with the gym leader- however, her brother, Jayce, who occasionally traveled with her, might have a bit of an issue. He was protective at times...

"Yep, sounds like you've got it!" Caden affirmed as she recounted what he had said. All the while, he fingered a pokeball on his belt. He knew what pokemon he would be using before he had even started his speech. After all, it was the same three as always. However, there'd be a slight change up in order this time around. He smirked at her comment of a couple friends having an issue with their date. "Ah, they don't like it? Tough." He shrugged with a half smile, "But seeing who it is challenging me, I can't lose either, sweetie!" He winked from the other side of the arena. "And saying such, Zangoose, you're starting us off!" He yelled, throwing the pokemon down into the arena. The Zangoose stood on its hind legs, paws extended to either side, waiting in an aggressive stance. "Just so you know," Caden smirked, "I'd like the date to be after our battle here. Maybe go to the noodle house if you're hungry after this. Maybe move onto the park later? I don't like movies, you both sit there, but you don't talk or anything... oh! And you can challenge me all you like! Even if you end up winning!" He grinned, flirting was definatly one of his trademark qualities. Then again, she was pretty. Who knows? maybe she was the one... Janessa's smile faded into an amused smirk as Caden selected his first Pokemon and then continued speaking. She watched the Zangoose - 'Zangoose? That's not an electric type... hmm.'- as she listened to Caden finished speaking, planning their date that he was apparently sure was going to happen. Oh, but she wasn't so keen on losing, even if losing would get her a date. As Caden finished up his little speech, Janessa chose a pokeball from off of her belt and released the Pokemon within. Absol 14 Pressure & Super Luck Scratch, Leer, Taunt, Quick Attack, Dark Pulse[/b][/center] Disaster, Janessa's quiet female Absol, appeared in the typical beam of red light. As Disaster took in the scenery and the Zangoose that was standing on the opposite side of the battle-field, Janessa replied to Caden's prior comments. "The noodle house? Park? Sounds like a great date. Who're you going with, again?" She teased with a grin. Then she looked down at Disaster, starting to get into the mood of a Pokemon battle- and not just any Pokemon battle, but a gym battle. Her first challenge. And she could already tell that it was going to be fantastic. "Disaster! Let's not waste any time getting down to the point, eh? Dark Pulse." Janessa told her Pokemon with a definitive nod. Disaster quickly got into the swing of things- she was more than ready for this battle. Janessa had made sure that all of her Pokemon were prepared for this, even though she knew that she probably wouldn't be using all of them. Disaster did as Janessa had told her to- starting out the battle with a Dark Pulse attack. She parted her jaws and a purple and black ball of dark energy quickly began building up. It spun and swirled within her mouth for just a moment, before Disaster sent it flying speedily across the field towards the Zangoose that was at the opposite end. At this point, Janessa was glad that she had spent all that money on the TM move, Dark Pulse- it gave her Absol a long range attack, making it so they had more strategies and options for battle in their arsenal. An excited, thrilled, determined expression quickly appeared on Janessa's face as she watched Disaster start off the battle. Her eyes shone with obvious pride and happiness- she definitely loved the life of a Pokemon trainer. EXP: 425

Zangoose watched as the opponent gathered a dark energy in its mouth.
"Zangoose, get ready to dodge!" Caden yelled out confidently. The Zangoose's face didn't change as its ears twitched. The blast of energy flew quickly to the pokemon, however the Zangoose was just as fast to avoid the energy pulse. On all fours, it shot quickly toward the Absol, its form weaving through the rods of metal sticking up from the ground.
"Sorry, sweety, but there's no way I can just let a catch like you go! Zangoose, Thunder! LET'S GO!" Canden commanded. The form of Zangoose stopped some ten meters away, its body sizzling with electricity before a large blast of lightning shot out at its opponent. It looked a little stronger than an electric type's thundershock and wouldn't be nearly as effective as if it had been an electric type. Even so, should it hit, it would have a chance at Paralyzing its opponent, the muscles of the Absol spasming with the shock of electricity should the lightning find its mark.
"Follow it up with a Swords Dance!" Caden punched the air infront of him. The Zangoose obeyed promptly. Even though he stood still, the dance was taking effect, his power raising as he watched the Absol. Its jaw was clenched, sharp teeth exposed to its enemy. White and red-ish fur bristling in anticipation. It knew what its next move was going to be before his trainer even told him. This was a common strategy he'd been used to test trainers with. The deadly combination was set up. All that was needed was execution.

Although Janessa was obviously hoping for Disaster's attack to hit, she couldn't help but laugh as the Zangoose easily dodged the attack. 'This is what I came here for, after all- for a challenge!' Janessa thought eagerly, an excited smile plastered across her face. Disaster, however, was less than thrilled by the Zangoose's speed and agility. She frowned and looked irritated.
Janessa pretty much ignored Caden's comment- she didn't mean to be rude, but she was getting too absorbed into the Pokemon battle to really pay much attention to the boy standing across the room from her.
When Janessa saw the Zangoose prepare his attack, a slight scowl appeared on her face. How did one dodge a Thunder attack? Well, unless there was shelter, the only was to dodge was to hold still and hope you get lucky.
"Disaster!" Janessa shouted over the cracking and snapping sounds of the Zangoose's attack. "Don't wait for the attack to be over!"
Disaster strained to hear her trainer's voice, but the got the basics of what Janessa was trying to say- don't just stand there, do something useful! And the Absol was happy to comply. As the Thunder attack filled the gym, Disaster jumped forward and spouted off another Dark Pulse attack at the Zangoose.
Already, Janessa could tell that Disaster wasn't going to get very far in this battle. The Absol was far less experienced that her other Pokemon- not in levels, but merely in trainer battles. However, Janessa was confident that Disaster could put quite a dent in this Zangoose, if they tried really hard. And if they were lucky, they might even make the Zangoose faint before Disaster was knocked out.
After Disaster sent off the Dark Pulse attack, she was suddenly hit by the Thunder attack. The force of the strike knocked her down to her knees. She quickly scrambled back to her feet, a bit scorched and in a decent amount of pain. She glared evilly at the Zangoose.
"Keep goin', Disaster." Janessa ordered. Disaster obeyed, quickly summoning up another Dark Pulse and sending it flying towards the Zangoose before one could say 'Oh, Shiftry.'
