JAYCE • CAMERON • RAYYA
Play By: Masaomi Kida ;; DRRR
Even if I die tomorrow I'll be glad my life was filled with songs
And even if I die tomorrow these four chords will keep me living on.
• Labels Do Not Define Me •
Name: Jayce Cameron Rayya (given name) ;; Aspen (stage name)
Age: 17
Gender: m
Sexuality: Straight
Status: Civilian
• On The Outside Looking In •
Hair: Jayce was born with a darker shade of blonde hair, that steadily grew darker over the first 7 years of his life. He has been dying his hair various shades between blonde and his current shade of medium brown for the past 7 years.
Eyes: a golden brown that goes well with any golden color he chooses for his hair
Scars/Markings: A few scattered scars on his arms, though mostly on his back, as well as one on his head just at his hair line. He keeps them all covered up though
General Appearance: Jayce is fairly short for a boy of his age, but his boyish looks are a plus in his line of work. While he may not be the best looking boy, his rounded face makes him fall under the 'cute' category. What everyone doesn't see, are the amount of scars he has on his back and arms. When he isn't covering them up with his clothing, he definitely makes sure to use something else to make them less noticable. He is also quite a bit stronger than he appears - capable of lifting and throwing just about anything he can get his hands on.
• There's More Than Meets The Eye •
Likes: music, his twin sister, pokemon, singing, writing songs, making friends, making others happy
Dislikes: bullies, anyone who beats his sister, mobs, large crowds in general, fangirls (the annoying ones - the calm ones are cool)
Strengths: music - writing lyrics, writing tunes, singing, playing instruments
Weaknesses: cute girls, pokemon (battles, contests etc)
Personality: Like most people, Jayce has a different personality depending on who he's hanging around at the time. In his most natural state, he has to be with those he holds dear to his heart, whether it be family, best friends, or perhaps even a significant other. These people get to know Jayce in his most easy-going and calm state. He is always cracking jokes, whether they make sense or not, he's always smiling, and his jokes are always aimed at trying to make everyone else laugh. They occasionally call him a clown, but that's what he aims for. His goal in life is to make those precious people happy, and he is very good at it.
What only some of these close people get to see is his defensive side. He is a very loyal and fierce friend, to the point that he will get himself into fist fights in order to defend anyone he deems worthy of his protection. He may not be the best fighter, but he can hold his own in a one on one, and a bit of help from his older brother has made this a bit easier for him over the years - especially when it comes to protecting their sister.
When it comes to his band, he holds his band mates in the first category - almost like brothers - but when he's on the stage, he's an entirely different person. Sure he may have a smile on his face, but it's a completely different smile than his fun-loving side. This smile is more confidence and stage presence as he sings the songs that he has written. He is definitely kind to his fans, but he comes off as a bit of a stuck up famous boy, which is why he has been given the nickname of 'the pretty little prince' by his fans.
The personality that most people see, however, is that of a somewhat shy boy who follows his twin sister everywhere. He follows her every command, and even helps her out with training her pokemon. He may not be the best at commanding them, but it's enough to help her pokemon get a bit of extra practice, not to mention she can train 2 at the same time rather than one at a time in random encounters with wild pokemon.
• I Am What I Own •
Items: within his back pack are various travelling supplies, mostly clothes, food, and cooking utensils. He keeps his pokegear in his pocket along with his music player (which is full of not only every single song he's ever written, but all of his favorites by others as well)
Pokemon: n/a - he doesn't own any
• How I Became Who I Am •
Family: Janessa Rayya (twin sister) + older brother + mother + father
History: Jayce Rayya was the second child born to this small family, only to be followed a few minutes later by his twin sister Janessa. As twins, the two spent most of their time together, and like his older brother, ended up becoming very protective of the girl. It was just an automatic thing for the two boys to look after their sister. Though they spent a great deal of time together, they definitely had different interests. While Janessa took to pokemon and wanting to be a pokemon trainer, Jayce spent all of his time listening to music, and jotting down simple little rhymes.
So when he was about 7, he asked his father for a guitar. Obviously the middle class family couldn't afford one, so he instead made a deal with a local who knew how to play to give his son lessons. The deal was, however, that in exchange for the lessons, Jayce had to do various favors for the man such as running down to the local mart to buy supplies or groceries, to cleaning the man's house and mowing the lawn.
By the time he was 9, Jayce had written a few simple songs, most of which were instrumental and electronic with only a few little lyrics repeated over and over. However, as a birthday present, the man brought Jayce into a recording studio for the boy to record three of his songs onto an EP. The man also gave Jayce his own stage name of Aspen, telling him that if he wanted to still have a normal life, they couldn't have him giving his real name.
Much to his surprise, the CD distributed under this man's label was a hit. It sold a lot more copies than Jayce thought it would, and the fact that the CD itself didn't have any information about the boy meant that he could still walk around without people jumping on him - and he liked the idea of this. So he continued writing and experimenting, knowing that people didn't even know how old he was.
When he was 11, he had already released a full length CD, and was asked to go on tour. However, his twin sister had just asked their father if she could go on a pokemon journey. Not wanting her to go alone, he declined, but said that he would perform when he could. He kept in contact with his instructor to tell him where they were headed and would occasionally be able to perform in the city that he and his sister had just entered.
This continued over the course of the past 6 years - Janessa going around battling with her pokemon to collect badges, and him going off and performing concerts in those same cities. He ended up getting into the habit of performing surprise concerts, and just contacting his band members before he entered a city. That way, since he was walking and they had the van, they could easily get there before Jayce did and set everything up for the concert. It made it easier to perform and leave without being noticed because the fans would go chasing after the van when it left.
