Scars/Markings: He has a tattoo on his neck that he got from his master who taught him all he knows about Pokémon and psychic powers. It’s an ‘X’ shape with curves that symbolize a connection to the universe.
General Appearance:
Jericho may look serious, but that’s mostly just because he doesn’t like having his picture taken. He’s usually cheerful and always has a smile on his face… except in pictures, so really, pictures don’t do him justice. He dresses comfortably, usually seen in runners, jeans, and button up shirts. He has a certain shirt, almost like a uniform, he uses for the gym though. It’s a black long-sleeved shirt with blue flames on that cuff the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt. He’s fairly tall and his chest is muscular, which sometimes intimidates people.

Personality: Jericho is really just a big teddy bear. He may look scary at times, being fairly large, but really, he’d rather make friends than fight. He does love Pokémon battles, however. He’s a bit sweetheart who is scared by ghosts, and will run always screaming, overreacting a lot when it comes up. He is completely loyal to his Pokémon and will do anything to protect them. That said, he won’t fight the battles for them. He knows what they’re capable of and pushes them to do their best in battle. On top of all this, Jericho has a very macho attitude, which occasionally gets him in trouble with the ladies. Sometimes this is called chivalry, but sometimes he can go too far and upset his lady friends. He also has a flare for the theatric, which he inherited from his father, a famous Pokémon Coordinator. There’s a certain art form to his battling, but he doesn’t over do it. Battles are for battles, and contests are for showing off.
All this said, Jericho doesn’t take any crap from anyone. He’s a real sweetheart about 90% of the time, but he won’t take excuses from his fellow trainers and he won’t tolerate people who mistreat Pokémon one bit.

Items: Just his Pokémon, a nice stash of Pokémon medicine, and a few spare Pokeballs. He rarely catches Pokémon, but when he does, it’s more often than not to help them heal and then be released. That said, these five following Pokémon are the only ones he owns.

History: Jericho received Kirlia as a Ralts, and has ambitions to evolve her into a Gallade. Jericho battled the Ralts who had been scaring the local kids and still now as a Kirlia gets into trouble and pulls pranks when possible.

Attacks: Psywave, Rock Throw, Harden, Tackle
History: Jericho found Lunatone injured outside of Reinshaw town. He’s not sure how she got there, but she got very attached very quickly and wouldn’t let him release her. She’s a little shy around anyone else though and will usually hide behind Jericho until she’s comfortable.

History: Slowbro was another rescue. He was saved from a cruel trainer by Jericho and he still has trouble trusting anyone. The only two people he seems to trust are Jericho and Jessie.
Name: Espeon—nicknamed Venus

Attacks: Psybeam, Swift, Confusion, Quick Attack
History: Jericho has had Espeon ever since she was a little Eevee. The two are quite inseparable and can been seen together all the time. He rarely uses her Pokeball. He received Eevee as a birthday present when he was younger, and she evolved into an Espeon one day after a particularly tough battle against a wild Skarmory.

Attacks: Psychic, Psybeam, Teleport, Recover
History: Alakazam used to win contests with Jericho’s father before his retirement. However, Alakazam didn’t much like retirement, and jumped at the chance to battle again. He is loyal to the Mars family, but sometimes Jericho gets the feeling that Alakazam views his father as his true trainer.
• How I Became Who I Am •
Family:
Father: Tobias Mars, a famous coordinator who used to use Jericho’s Alakazam in his contests. When he retired, he gave his Alakazam to his son, who wasn’t ready to give up battling.
Mother: Maria Mars. She ran the gym before Jericho, and passed it on to him. She used psychic Pokémon and also passed alone her psychic powers to her son. She is a much more powerful psychic than Jericho.
Siblings: Jericho has one little sister, Jessie, who loves Pokémon contests. She has one Pokémon, a Horsea she received as a birthday present.
Sensei Oozai: Jericho playfully calls him grandfather, so he has to be added here. He taught Jericho and his mother all about using psychic abilities and battling with psychic Pokémon. His methods are a little odd and he likes to discipline his students with a sturdy whack to the head with his walking stick.
Espeon: I have to add Espeon here. Jericho has had Espeon even since she was a little Eevee. She’s starting to get old, like Alakazam, but she still loves to battle and would do anything for Jericho. They’re so close that he never uses her Pokeball unless she gets injured. You never see one without the other.

Jericho has always been a friendly and open guy, and that’s mainly due to Espeon. He used to be timid and shy, but having his own Pokémon helped him open up. When he got a little older, his empathy started to kick in, and soon after this, his Eevee evolved into Espeon. His master had told him it was due to their strong bond that Eevee had evolved into a psychic Pokémon.
Jericho trained for years with his master, learning how to control his power and mastering how to battle with psychic Pokémon. His father retired from contests, and Alakazam joined Jericho’s party. Over the years he collected up his team of Pokémon, and one day his mother came to him with a proposal. He could start running the gym if he beat her in a battle. Of course, Jericho jumped at the chance. Sure enough, it was a long and hard battle, but he won, and was given the title of gym leader.
Other:
Jericho, as a young child, was once bullied by a kid in the town. This kid had a Gastly that just would not leave poor little Jericho alone, and to this day he’s still scared of ghosts in general.
