The odd man decided to check in on the new arrivals in the Pokemon Adoption center. He tapped his cane on the ground as he read the boards and tilted his head when he saw that an Onix was available. Recalling the insane defenses that those beasts had, he simply had to look into the power of that one.
Giving a kind salute to the boy at the counter, he smiled as he reached for his billfold.
"Ah, good day to you, old friend! How have you been? I have been bonding with that Pikachu quite nicely, though I have yet to use him in battle. Quite a nice find! I was interested in that Onix you have available! What can you tell me about her?"

"Ah! My favorite customer! You're Pikachu's doing well, huh? Glad to hear it!" The man gave a smile. "Well, Pokemon aren't all about fights and battling. They're companions for life. Anyway, what cin I do you for?" He asked with a small laugh, hearing out the man's request.
"Ah, going for the mighty Onyx now, are you? Quite the team you're building! Hold on a sec." He started flipping through papers. "Well... it seems this Onyx in particular was found damming up a river. Hydrophobia's not out of the question, but this one learned that one weakness out the hard way it seems." He replied, his eyes scanning the paper.
"Hmm... No reports of perminate physical injury, but mentally it could be in better shape. It's a bit reclusive towards others and hostile towards water types. I'd fair say it does a bit better resisting water based damage, but I wouldn't recommend it going swimming or anything!" He laughed. "Other than that, I'd say it's a normal Onyx." He shrugged. "Rock type, mineral/ground egg class, don't really remember which... maybe both. Ability to move around 50 mph on land. The biggest thing you ever saw. And sometimes referred to as the Gyarados of the Mountains." He finished, his eyes shifted up to the man.
"Between you me, it's got its weaknesses in special attacks, but as far as rock solid defenses go only a steel-type might be better... most attacks are so small to it that even though it hits, it's like getting stuck by a needle. Watch out for those fighting types though. Love to make gravel out of it." He smirked.
"So, this the kind of pokemon you're looking for?" The man asked, closing his notes.

"Hmmm... I'll have to keep the poor dear away from my main Pokemon, then. Still, her raw power will be nothing to sneeze at once she becomes a Steelix. A slight problem with special attacks is more than forgivable."
He rummaged around for the proper money and paused for a moment, recalling a Spearow also for sale. He thought for a second, knowing that type of bird is not the most regal, but it would be something he could quickly raise as an Imperial Favor. If nothing else, he could keep the bird around as a pet.
"Hmm... a flying type would not be bad to round my team off either. Tell me about that little Spearow as well. I have a speedy special attacker and a walking wall, how would that round out my team? I hear they are a little more ill-tempered than Pidgey's."

The man laughed at this. "Little more? This bugger nearly took out its previous owner's eyes! I think the trainer called it a..." he lowered his voice. "a pea-brain." he whispered so the ball wouldn't hear them. Kaz was a little more weary of the pokemon after what he had seen. "You won't find a more unforgiving little bastard." He continued, keeping his voice down. Coughing, he spoke normally again.
"So, it's ill tempered to say the least. Got its perks in its eyes though, sharp and preditorial. They've been known to make dinner out of Raticates back in Kanto when in small groups. Once it evolves to Fearow, it'll be large enough to ride on, much like its Pidgeot counterpart. Even the name commands the respect it rightly deserves. God help the trainer who takes it off my hands just to get it pissed at him. Won't be able to take it out of the pokeball again without the pokemon attacking him." Kaz shook his head. "And with this Spearow, once it gets a grudge, it'll never forget... nor forgive." Getting up and leaning close to the man, he shook his head.
"Believe me, you don't want to get involved with it. Sure... It's fast and it's a flying type so its movement potential is limitless in three dimensions rather than the two you mostly see with pokemon running about on the ground whacking each other about. But think, is getting a head strong pokemon of the type you want really worth potentially losing an eye over?" Kaz asked, not knowing anything about the man's past he was speaking to...

The man paused in thought... no, he needed a Pokemon with a possibility for loyalty. Still, maybe there was a way to win the respect of the Pokemon without having to make enemies with it.
"Loyalty in a Pokemon is far more important than power. I lost my own eye learning that lesson from my starter in Caesari. I am a ruler back home, and I must learn to deal with difficult people as well as Pokemon. I will take the bird as well... I have that Pikachu as a trump card should he get out of line..."
He pondered things. The slowpoke would be an excellent addition!

"Ah... that's a bit of a hitch, ya see, the slowpoke's accounted for recently by a breeder. A bit quicker and you woulda beat'em out." Kaz apologized. "And I didn't mean anything by the eye stuff, I didn't know." He grinned, not really keen on adding 'your majesty' to the end of every sentince, but able to do so if needed. "And congrats on ruling and all! Not everyday I meet royalty out here! Tell ya what, the slowpoke's taken, but I've got a good Chinchou in the back." He said, turning the papers to the Chinchou's profile.
"While it's not a slowpoke, it's a great duo electric-water type. Its ability to absorb lightning attacks to heal itself takes out the age old problem of water-types being weak to electricity, not to mention if you go up against a ground type, it's got its water attacks to fall back on. While it doesn't have much leg room," He stifled a laugh at his joke, "it's ability to swim makes it a force to be reckoned with! I can understand if it's too much like little Pikachu, but it's what we've got right now." Kaz shrugged, knowing he probably wouldn't be interested in the bug-type.

((Sorry, just saw the post about the Poke before me and was re editing my previous post.))
"I told you I was a Duke the last time we met... hah! Perhaps you never quite believed me! Ah well... I am technically not supposed to be making this journey. Us nobility are not meant to soil our hands. Still, if our kingdom is to ever have a league as I dream, then I must see how another runs."
He paused to ponder the possibilities with the Chinchou... if nothing else, it was perfect for the Gym Leader battles in the first few rounds!
"Actually, considering I will be going up the gym leaders, that should be a perfect Pokemon! Perhaps not a first choice for the future, but it will make an excellent trade or perhaps one to breed. Pardon me if I am clearing you out, but I find this much easier than breaking in a wild caught Pokemon. $3000 it is, then?"
He placed the money on the counter and threw in an extra 500 for the good gentleman up front.
"You have been ever so helpful! I am Augustine. Take the last as a tip. I will keep you informed on the progress of my team so that you know they have found a good home."

Kaz gave a toothy smile to the customer before him, "Well, I'm not technically supposed to take tips, but we can keep this one a little hush-hush between friends, eh?" He laughed. "Yep, the total comes to 3 grand. Quite a pretty penny, to be sure, but as you say you know what you're getting before even stepping foot out the door." The exchange was brief.
"I know full well these pokemon will like you! Well, the Spearow is yet to be proven, but if anyone can do it, I know you can. You've just got that aura about you." He explained. "Take care of yourself now!"
