Fresh from her meeting with the emperor, the women scooped up her briefcase, striding down the halls of the complex towards the laboratory. She had offered her services to his lordship and to further her usefulness, the order suggested her a pokemon. With no other 'toads' as they were commonly referred showing any balls to take any initiative, she felt it was her responsibility and would take it upon herself to see things were done so did not hesitate to sweep into the lab. Nes didn't even pause to knock at the door. She reached for the handle in mid stride, pushing through with a force indicating she was here for business and no messing around.
Though this would be Nes's first pokemon, she had a firm idea of what she wanted. The finest education money could buy in Kanto region offered her an insight into the world of pokemon and their strengths and weaknesses and she was steadfast in what she wanted. The mind of the woman was firmly set on some sort of poison or bug type pokemon. They did not have to be pretty and they still got the job done. Despite no outward physical strength and power she knew there skills lied elsewhere. In the ability to skillfully paralyze, poison and lull their opponents to sleep. There was the option of tactics and strategy. A subtle power than many others did not seem to understand. She saw a little bit of herself in them.
"Excuse me. I am looking to obtain a pokemon...please?" the woman asked, setting her briefcase down, her boot tapping against the floor impatiently.

The main floor of the lab was fairly large. Off to the left in the corner was a fire place, around which a lounge was situated. Half of the far wall, toward the left side, was lined with black doors. To the far right was a counter, behind which were rows and rows of pokeballs. A door was situated to both the left and the right behind the counter. In front of it, off to the right, were several empty waiting chairs. A spiral staircase stood in the direct center of the room, and it was from the floor above that the sounds of work could be heard.
A young woman, one of the professor's assistants, was behind the counter. She glanced up as Nes entered, and nodded as she spoke, "I'll get the Professor for you." She said, picking up a phone and dialing a short number, "Professor Black please." She said, before hanging up.
A moment later a man descended the stairs, glancing over at Nes as he passed through a door, and traded places with the girl behind it, of whom made her way out and back up the stairs, "What type of pokemon are you looking for?" He asked.

"Thank you." With a slight nod of her head, Nes thanked the assistant for fetching the professor. The service was quick, which she had to commend them for. No nonsense hanging around, no pointless small talk. The Order certainly did run a tight ship, something which appealed to her personality and reaffirmed her thoughts she was doing the right thing joining the order. Ofcourse there would always be time for events to change that opinion but for now she was content with her place. She made a mental note to put in a good word for the assistant.
"Professor Black, I assume?" Nes enquired as the man appeared before her, reassured when he questioned her about her preferred type. The decision about a pokemon type was easy. It was actually a decision the woman had made almost ten years prior. Ever since her tutoring, she had a firm belief in what she wanted. There was no reason for her to have to be here long, nor keep the professor any longer from his work. It would be an advantage for both of them. So long had she seem what she would only have to call children go into laboratories and spend an hour being questioned on what they wanted, unable to make their minds up. It irritated her. Time was money and every minute more than she needed to wait around for was money wasted. "A combination of bug and poison would be preferred. If not then something of either type will be acceptable."

The Professor inclined his head in a slight nod of acknowledgement as the woman questioned about his identity. Indeed he was. The action was repeated as she requested a certain type of pokemon, and he turned about to face the rows of pokeballs behind him. Trailing over toward the right side, he crouched slow, inspecting several of them, before he rose back to his feet and returned to the counter, three pokeballs in hand.
He set the first of them down, announcing, "The first I have to offer would be a Spinarak. It's female, and knows Poison Sting, String Shot, and Scary Face. Level 5, as per all of starters." He set down the second pokeball, "This is a Skorupi. It's male, level 5, and knows Bite and Poison Sting." He set down the last of the pokeballs, "And this is a Venonat. Level 5, male, knows Tackle, Disable, Foresight, and Supersonic."
He raised an eyebrow, "Do any of these appeal to you?"

The woman dropped down on one knee, inspecting the pokeballs more closely. The pokemon themselves weren't even out, so there was no reason to but it felt to her like she was making a more thorough decisions. The Venonat was the first to consider. And the first to rule out. She could see the potential in the little bug, it's variety of moves were impressive and the freedom of flight of it's evolution could be advantageous. The only problem was the little fuzzy bug was a tad too far on the cute side for her. There would be plenty of trainers out there looking for a cute purple fuzzball but it just wasn't for her. "I am afraid I'll have to pass on the Venonat, professor" Nes explained, turning her attention to the other two.
Now it was a toss up between the Spinarak and Skorupi. Both were somewhat unattractive, which attracted her. They appeared to be on an even playing field, withe the potential to learn the same type of moves and evolve into formidable partners. It was all down to personal preference in the end. Would she rather have a spider or a pokemon? She extended her hand swiftly, grabbing the pokeball from the counter top. Tossing it forward, the ball erupted in a flash of red light before bouncing back to her hand. The form of a pokemon began to appear on the floor before them. The red faded, turning to bluey-purple and an elongated body began to take shape.
"I'll take him" Nes smiled, looking at Professor Black down to the Skorupi that stood at their feet.

Professor Black watched patiently as the woman studied the pokeballs, preparing herself to make an informed decision. He never rushed people with this choice, as it was very important that they chose a pokemon that they could become formidable partners with. At last, she chose one, freeing the Skorupi from the pokeball. He nodded, grabbed the other two, and returned them to their spots behind him.
Once back at the counter, he pulled open a drawer to his right, and drew from it a small bag, which he set down beside the pokeball, "In here are five pokeballs, five potions, four full heals, a map of Star Region, a berry bag, and a TM case." He closed the drawer and opened the one above it, "What color pokedex do you want?"

Wednesday was pleased with her choice as she stared down at the little blue scorpion. He was kinda weird looking which made him interesting. He was content to sit at her feet, flicking his tail back and forth like an amused puppy would while he waited for her. She was impressed at the bond he had seemed to form with her already. It was a sensation she hadn't felt before; it surprised her that she held feelings towards the little blue pokemon - especially for someone as detached as she was. Guess it was true what they all said about a special bond forming between trainer and pokemon.
"I'll take a grey pokedex, please". The colour of the pokedex was of really no concern to her. Anything would have done but since the professor so kindly offered a specific one, she took advantage, asking for one that would match the rest of her outfit.

Professor Black nodded, and immediately crouched down to search behind the counter for one of the requested color. At last, he located a gray one, and upon standing set it down before the girl on the counter, "Here you are." He said, "And I believe that you're all set now."

"Thank you very much, Professor" she said, taking the pokedex from him and slipping it straight into her pocket. Turning to leave, she snatched the bag of items up from the table, coupling it with her briefcase in her left hand. "Have a good day" she added without turning round. It didn't hurt to be polite but she had other things to do and couldnt afford to linger here any longer. "Come on, Tak" she motioned to her Skorupi, freshly nicknamed. He leapt to his feet, scuttling off after Nes, slipping out as she held the door open for him out of the lab.
