This was one of those defining moments in a person's life; one that acts as the key turning point in said person's world view. It seems that this also applies to Pokemon.
Despite what little confidence she hand in herself, coupling with the intense fear of fighting other Pokemon, Fu managed to land a solid, effective blow on the Sewaddle. Now, to any other Pokemon, this would be seen as easy against such a young, weak opponent, but to the fearful Taillow, it was the greatest moment in her life.
She felt a great rush of willpower and confidence after landing her first strike in her first official battle; instead of her habitual screeching in fear, Fu would chirp with calm determination. Quick twirls and spins accompanied her next movements. Someone found their talent
he thought, smiling at his Pokemon's newfound self respect. Her opponent, however, began to retaliate as she was dancing about in the air with victorious glee. A thick gurgling belch escaped the Bug Pokemon's maw, followed by a solid line of gooey white string. " Is that...?" he started, glancing at his PokeDex to understand what was happening. One of the moves listed under a young Sewaddle's palette of attacks was something called String Shot, a spray of webbing that could slow and possibly subdue whatever it hits. Unfortunately, Fu's discovery of her own self confidence was what caused her to go down so quickly, as she was unaware of the cone of string that was aimed at her while she danced in mid air. The sticky residue would have wrapped about her wings, pulling her to the ground. Her first strategy was to Peck at the webbing to break herself free from its confines. However, the volume and amount of webbing created quickly outweighed the velocity and placement of her attacks. Rapidly flapping her wings only slowed her decent to be covered in more and more thread. Eventually, her wings would be wrapped together in the web, rendering her useless to fly. Once she hit the ground, Soap would have already called out his order to the Taillow. " Fu! Try leaping back towards me and use Steel Wing!" The bird chirped in agreement, pulling herself away from the worm while simultaneously spreading her wings open with the force of a swinging sledgehammer. The webbing, after such powerful force, would most likely be torn apart from the sheer force, and the bird would be ready for any further attacks. Soap watched the Sewaddle attack, confused at its novice-like attack patterns. Being a wild Pokemon with little experience, this little worm must be just a baby. He would keep his Taillow from continuing any attacks on it unless it were to make another move on his team. " Hold steady, Futeki. This might be a short spar for now", he said squatting down and placing a comforting hand on his newly confident Flying type. " Just watch for a bit."[/blockquote][/blockquote] WC: 555

The Tailow may have found it's inner-confidence, but so had Sewaddle. Being it's first battle, the sewing Pokemon had also had a mini-celebration with itself when it's attack hit. It found itself enjoying the rush of battle, which made him oblivious to the Tailow's escape from the String Shot attack until it was too late. However, it didn't upset Sewaddle at all; rather, it gave him a chance to use his String Shot again.
Excited and now knowledgeable to what he was doing, the Sewaddle shot another String Shot. This time, however, he sprayed it at Soap and his party. He hoped to entangle all of them, then leave and show his friends his new attack. Imagine how cool he would be!

Fu had managed to get out of such a sticky situation thanks to his owner's planning, though Soap didn't know if this would work against this Pokemon a second time. I really need to work on my strategy variety soon
he thought, feeling a sudden rush of embarrassment from his own sloppy style of evading. By now, the Sewaddle would be turning to continue its onslaught of String Shots, though its aim seemed to be slightly off from where his Taillow was sitting; a chance for Soap to take action. " Fu! Fly above the worm! Keep circling until I tell you otherwise!" The bird chirped in agreement, kicking off the ground to patrol the free air twenty feet above the Sewaddle. It had managed to avoid the sticky webbing, though her team would be within its range. Soap felt the substance graze his face, though barely as it remained light and foamy. He managed to scrape the majority off of himself before it would harden and compress as he moved out of the worm's aim. Okoru, who was still peeved from Soap's earlier display, had not been paying attention to the battle, and would be covered in a decent layer of sticky silk before he would know what happened. Kyokou remained in his sulking position from his crushed pride, letting himself become a dragon-cocoon. The boy shook his head, making sure he got all of the String Shot residue out of the blue thick mass of hair. He pivoted his head back up to the battle, watching to see if there would be any change in the Sewaddle's strategy. " Make sure you dodge its attacks, Fu!" If the Sewaddle were to try and stick the bird again, she would be ready and attempt to dodge the attacks. However, if Sewaddle continued to try and string he and his other two Pokemon, he would have another plan. " Keep your guard up, Fu."[/blockquote][/blockquote] WC: 380

The Sewaddle couldn't help but laugh as Soap and his team got entangled with the stringy formula. He stuck his tongue out at Soap and his team, before switching his attention to Soap's Tailow. As he watched the bird fly up to the sky, he figured now was as good a time as ever to make his escape. He started to crawl away, but even as a baby he knew it wasn't smart to keep your back towards the enemy. He would turn around and crawl backwards, firing String Shot attacks at the Tailow as he tried to crawl back into the forest.

Was that thing...it was! That little punk was laughing at his team. I'm not liking this little brat's attitude all too much
he thought, gritting his jaw in frustration. His team definitely needed more discipline; more so that of the emotional variety. His cool now gone, Soap found it now necessary to go in for the attack. The Sewaddle must have then decided to make its escape, as it began moving back into the thick of the forest. However, the Bug type was being surprisingly strategic, not willing to keep its back to the enemies and spraying its overused String Shot at the only non-incapacitated Pokemon, Futeki. Soap had little worries of her getting stuck again, though, as his earlier order had left her cautious of the Sewaddle's later actions. The Taillow easily avoided the straight line of string being shot from the Sewaddle's maw, almost as if she were dancing around it. Foliage around her were quickly whitened with the thick residue, weighing down branches and leaves wherever the Taillow once hovered. However it may be playing out its simple strategy, the one detail that was obvious to Soap and his Pokemon was how desperately the Sewaddle wanted to escape; though its jolly expression said otherwise, Soap felt that his opinion was all too true. Gotta trust my gut. Soap reached for a Pokeball and prepared himself for if his next plan were to take action. " Heads up Fu, it's trying to escape! Go in for a finishing Steel Wing !" Fu chirped in agreement, lifting her wings above her shoulders. The halt in flapping would cause her to quickly fall upon her prey, momentum being her ally in her attack. She aimed to reach the Bug type just more than a foot off the ground. As she would reach her destination, her wings would glow silver just before smashing them upon the Bug type's head with the force of dual sledgehammers. The Sewaddle could still spray its silk at the bird and attempt to slow its fall with its slight repellent force, yes, but the with momentum and power she put behind the attack, the Bug type would still receive a massive brunt of the damage.[/blockquote][/blockquote] WC: 423

Unfortunately, the Sewaddle was to slow to do much other than try and roll out the way, especially considering the speed of the opposing attack. He managed to somewhat dodge it, but still took a large chuck of damage from the hard wing. It tried to fire another String Shot attack, but it's health was pretty much done. Due to this, the string lazily left the Sewaddle's mouth, falling to the ground and sticking there. Eventually the Sewaddle realized he could go no further, and as he fainted on the ground he realized he wouldn't get the chance to show his friends how cool he was.

Soap couldn't help but grin at the sound of Futeki's powerful wings laying down the hurt onto the Sewaddle's disproportional head. The bird managed to get a kick out of it as well, squawking with delight of a nearly-solid hit.
The bug type had turned back to the opponent after recoiling from the pain, aiming its maw for another string shot. However, as Soap suspected, that last hit would be what did him in, and the Sewaddle dropped to the ground, exhausted. Nothing was left to do expect toss the Pokeball.
A quick flick of the wrist, and Soap's third Pokeball would sail casually through the air, bouncing of the unconscious Sewaddle's cranium with a hollow 'ponk'. Meanwhile, Futeki returned to her owner, landing on his shoulder to chirp happily at his side. "It's good to see you being more optimistic Fu
", he said while nuzzling the Taillow's feathers with his cheek. All there was left to do was wait and see how the capturing would play out. No whammies, no whammies, no whammies...[/blockquote][/blockquote]

There was no struggle as the pokeball hit the Sewaddle on the head. The Pokeball absorbed the sewing pokemon, and shook three times before the successful 'ding' noise was heard. And simple as that, the Sewaddle was now under Soap's possession. Congratulations! You caught Sewaddle!Name: Sewaddle Gender: Male Level: 5 Abilities: Swarm/Chlorophyll Attacks: Tackle, String Shot

His Pokeball hadn't shown the slightest signs of struggle before the confirming ping sounded. The once-cowardly Taillow certainly did a number on the baby Bug type, that much was for sure. Soap strolled casually toward his now occupied Pokeball, minimizing it and sticking it in one of many sockets that lined either side of his belt. You can rest now, little brat- actually, I think I'll call you Kaiwari; you kind of look like a little radish sprout leaf.
Pleased with his new naming decision, the boy withdrew the others' Pokeballs. He first tilted his head at the happy bird perched on his shoulder." Fu, you really showed your colors today. Take a nice long rest." A straight beam reached the bird's jet black feathers, recalling her to her container. He next looked at his Bagon, well, what little he could see through the layer of webbing. " Stop hanging your so shamefully, Kyo. You've really been acting out of character lately, a lot like a baby." That must have struck quite the nerve, for the hardened silk shattered as the enraged Bagon burst out of its mopey state. Charging to bite at his master once more, Soap managed to fumble for his ball and recall the Pokemon before an extra ninety pounds would be added to his arm. Lastly, he turned towards Okoru. The snake had already peeled the sticky residue off of itself before it would begin to harden. He glared at his owner with much discontent, a low hiss blending in with the forest Pokemon's own circadian rhythm. Soap frowned in frustration. " You...hmm. You need more discipline." He put the Pokeball back at his wrist. Originally, Soap had planned to return to the city to rest his Pokemon for the night, but seeing as his Ekans still had some fight in him, the extra time spent of personal training might bring the two closer together. Besides, he still had two slots left in his current team; finding a fifth member today would be a bonus. " You and I are going to go find another wild Pokemon to fight." The snake simply unwound itself from its coiled-sitting position, still hissing at his owner. " That's the best mood I've ever seen you in." ______________________________ An hour had passed, and Soap managed to figure a strategy to find Pokemon and train simultaneously. After traveling for a few minutes, Soap and Okoru would find themselves surrounded by thick foliage; the perfect zone to find forest Pokemon. He would order the snake to spray the bushes with a haze of poison darts, and occasionally a Pokemon would turn up. However, seeing as many were quite low leveled and inexperienced, they would simply run away before an actual combat sequence could be initiated. While Okoru normally would see obeying his owner as the last of his choices, the idea of randomly pestering some hiding Pokemon was too fun a project to pass up. The boy still acted as a pain in the neck for the snake though, telling him what to do and all that junk. Unnoticed by the Ekans and his owner, however, was that Okoru had stopped his constant hissing. Soap could see the edge of the forest coming closer and closer with each passing step. He halted he and his Pokemon's movements for a moment. " There just aren't enough willing Pokemon out here, and we're almost out of forest." He had to think for a moment. " I think we have to use that one thing...what was it? Patience, that's it. Just have to wait and listen for something." They were running low on daylight, so the wait wouldn't be very long. Soap took the time to update his PokeDex, adding a check mark under the "Personal Notes" section of the entries of the Pokemon he fought.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

While Soap was focused on his Pokedex, a silent predator was watching them from the trees. He had been there since Soap had been there, and had been waiting for the perfect time to strike. He had been granted the luck to not get struck by any of the poison darts, and the patience to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. This Pokemon was a strategic one, and seemed to have a lust for battle. Add these two traits together, and you got a strong fighter.
Once Soap had started to write in his Pokedex, the Pokemon realized that now was his best time to strike; during a distraction. With the perfect opportunity now avaliable, the Tyrogue sliently jumped from the branch it was kneeling on, and tried to land on the Ekans with a Tackle attack.

As he was still an amateur, Okoru's sensing abilities were still quite shaky. He had thought he caught the scent of a wild Pokemon close by, but then again the scents of all the other Pokemon in the forest could just have been messing with him.
When the scratch of feet against wood reached both Soap and his Pokemon's ears, it was too late. The snake turned to find a charging Tyrogue barreling toward him, smashing him into the ground with impressive force. Okoru hissed in pain, trying to recoil from the force of the attack.
Soap, in the meantime, took the opportunity of having his Dex already out to quickly scan the mysterious intruder as it rammed into his partner. "Tyrogue...Fighting type...that's about it.
" He snapped the device shut, placing it in his back pocket for now. Unfortunately, the Tyrogue made the mistake of getting too close to Okoru (not to mention pissing off quite a bit), leaving himself very much open for a counter attack. " Wrap it up real tight, Oko!" At his command, the wounded snake coiled both its head and tail around the Tyrogue's thin body, attempting to crush it within his surprisingly vice-like grip. Perhaps the Ekans's anger problem could turn out to be of use after all.[/blockquote][/blockquote] WC: 255

This Tyrogue seemed to be a bit of a strategist, because almost immediately after he tackled the Ekans, he put his arms over his head. This allowed the Ekans to easily start to squeeze the fighting Pokemon, but it also allowed Tyrogue to use his next move. Before he took too much damage from being squeezed to death, the Tyrogue outstretched his small arms horizontally, then brought them together in a clap. This would send a 360 degree wave of air in all directions, also known as Fake Out, which at close range would cause the Ekans to get sent back and to flinch. The Tyrogue had drawn up this strategy in it's head as it was waiting for it's moment to strike; a smart Pokemon this little guy was.

With his prey held tightly within his coiled self, the Ekans began to squeeze the life out of the Fighting Type. However, the opponent had prepared an attack just to pull itself out of the possible battle-ending mess he put himself into. Just before being bound by the snake's thick length, he had kept his arms free from being Wrapped by lifting them above his own head. A clever strategy, no doubt. His next move was what surprised Soap and Okoru, though the surprise itself would be different from what the Tyrogue would have expected from them.
The tiny fighting type shifted his arms to be stretched out horizontally as the Ekans began to squeeze the air out of him. In the next moment, it would have brought them together in a powerful clap known as a Fake Out (Soap didn't have enough time to look that attack up), sending an all-direction sonic pulse of air. The attack, no doubt, aimed to peel the snake off of the Tyrogue's body.
Unfortunately for him, his desired results would be a strategical backfire on himself. As he meant to send the opponent away with the blast of air, to do so required the 360 circle of air to be between the two Pokemon. Seeing as Okoru's entire body was wrapped tight around the Tyrogue, there would be very little to no space between them whatsoever. The attack would have taken place outside of their violent huddle, leaving the Ekans to stay Wrapped around his victim.
The shock wave would still damage Oko, however, though this would only make him angrier. His head would have been just behind of the Tyrogue's, his purple cheeks being pressed tightly against the back of its skull. With a slight curve of its neck, the snake would attempt to rotate its head and aim its maw at the Pokemon, firing multiple Poison Sting darts. At point blank, the moderately-damaging attack would be much more effective, most likely poisoning his target.
