Insecurity suddenly overtook him once again, and Kay found himself staring down, shuffling his feet and fidgeting with Vibrava's empty Pokéball."Er - Ground and Rock."
Upon hearing the answer, Salazar actually let out a little grin. So the fifth gym was the one with Ground-type and Rock-type pokemon, eh? It was a refreshing break from the mold where that kind of Gym Leader was usually the first one to be fought, like that one Gym in Kanto and Roark of Sinnoh. As for what towns they were in... well the white haired trainer honestly already forgot all about that. He was focused on the here and now in order to prevent himself from lapsing into self-destructive flashbacks about various horrible things in his past. After all, his father- and the psychologists he had hired to help him- told him that he wasn't quite mentally stable yet. In fact, the only reason he was allowed to go on this trip despite that is because apparently Pokemon Trainer journeys are quite therapeutic for the soul.
However, that reaction he had while declaring his favored type was quite disconcerting. It was like he was ashamed of it or something along those lines. Maybe it was because most people tended to underestimate the power of Rock and Ground types even though they are actually pretty strong, especially as they are the pokemon types with the best amount of strength... at least Rock was anyway. Heck, his starter was part-Ground as well as part-Dragon, and so far that combination was working marvelously for him. Thinking about it though, Kay was probably afraid that he'd diss his choice of pokemon like most others would.
He'd just prove him wrong. "Ground and Rock type? Sounds pretty cool." Salazar admitted, letting the shadow of a smile pass his face before returning it to its usual impassive look.
Suddenly a Vibrava entered his sight and went straight for the black haired man. It was probably Kay's Vibrava, so Salazar didn't mind it in the least. He was proven right when the guy took out a pokeball and sucked it in... although Salazar could have sworn that there was some sort of uncertain look on its face as it stared at Kay before it was sucked in the ball. It was kinda hard to miss with those bug eyes and all. It made the white haired trainer wonder as to why the Vibrava was wondering about something. However, before those thoughts could come fully into fruition Kay spoke.
There was an awkward pause. "So, um... I suppose I'll be... going now?" He dearly hoped that didn't come across as too rude. "Um... I'll see you again then - sometime..." And before he could wait for a reaction, before his hesitation could betray him, Kay turned around and hurried away, quite relieved to finally escape from the uncomfortable night.
Salazar blinked as the guy turned around and went away like a bat out of hell. Was he that scary that he was that uncomfortable in his presence? Well... he DID tend to come across as that with his demeanor and all. With that thought in mind, he didn't really bother to think more on it.
"Strange guy." He commented with a shrug, fully aware of the irony in his statement. With that said, he left.
